Center for Leadership We are the teaching Center of the world level, performing scientific researches and informing as to realization, evaluation and development of the leaders’ character. Center for Leadership of UCU is a common project of the Ukrainian Catholic University , UCU Business School , UCU Institute of leadership and management and UCU Management school, realized due to the partnership and collaboration with Ivey Business School . Center for Leadership of UCU aims at breakthrough in the development of methodology and instruments of teaching leadership courses: development of case studies on leadership is foreseen within the activity of the Center, as well as research of leadership phenomenon in the business sphere, state management, military and non-revenue sectors. In its activity while performing research and developing the training program the Center for Leadership of UCU rests upon the concept “Leadership based on character” developed by the researchers from Ivey Business School. Mission Mission of the Center for Leadership of UCU is to develop new generation of socially responsible leaders, oriented towards society development in the business sphere, public administration, politics, military, non-profit and religious sectors. Vision We are a world class teaching center, performing scientific researches and informing as to realization, evaluation and development of the leaders’ character. We see Center for Leadership of UCU as an environment uniting scientists and researchers, performing researches on leadership and practicing, which are already leaders in different spheres: business, state management, military sector, non-revenue sector, politics and religion. UCU Center for Leadership of UCU also has an intention to actively work with youth and form around the Center the society of young people possessing potential to become leaders in the future. Strategic Partnership Strategic partner of the UCU Center for Leadership is Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership оf Ivey Business School, who provides us with professional support in research and curriculum development. Main source of funding for Center for Leadership of UCU consists of generous contributions from Ihor Ihnatovych and his wife Marta Viter, president and executive director of the investment company First Generation Capital Inc., Canada. Methodology In its activity while performing research and developing the training program the Center for Leadership of UCU rests upon the concept ‘Leadership based on character’ developed by the researchers from Ivey Business School, which includes three main components – 1. Competences 2. Character 3. Commitment. Corresponding to the concept, leader’s character includes 11 elements. Ursol worked in the sector of non-governmental organizations and in the educational direction of the "Vostok Sos" charitable foundation. She was involved in the project team of art and music festivals. She is interested in psychology and theater art. In her free time, Olha plays the djembe, attends contact improvisation classes and meets new people. oursol@lvbs.com.ua Andriy Rozhdestvenskyy × Professor in Leadership, HR&OD, CEO of UCU Center for Leadership. Andriy Rozhdestvenskyy served as a profiler and analyst in Israel’s security service, where he specialized in counter-terrorism matters, including special communications and negotiations. Later he became HR Business Partner-Retail at Oschadbank with subsequent promotion to Head of Personnel and Training in the bank (35,000 employees). Rozhdestvenskyy adjusted classical sales techniques to the bank’s needs and then started tailoring training programs to suit the needs of other areas of business (telecommunications, IT industry, agriculture etc.). As a result, he started his own business – a consulting company with emphasis on developing and tailoring personnel training systems for specific businesses. Andriy provides assistance to organizations specializing in childhood cancer and alcohol and drug rehabilitation. He is a member of the movement “Change Ukraine – Start with Yourself” and organizer of the Everest 2025 project. Mr. Rozhdestvenskyy received a higher education degree in Psychology from the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University, did his post graduate studies at the G.S. Kostiuk Institute of Psychology in Kyiv and successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis. He also successfully completed Anna Vlasova’s HRM School. Natalya Pylat × Researcher at the UCU Leadership Center. Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. She defended her dissertation in psychological sciences at the Institute of Psychology named after G. Kostiuk. She participated in international programs and trained in Western European universities: University of Naples Federico II (Italy), University of Bologna (Italy), Blaise Pascal University (France), Central European University (Hungary), Warsaw School of Social Psychology (Poland) , IFL at the Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden). Nataliya worked as the head of the staff of the “Television and Radio Company Lux” and the company “M-FON”. Experience of creation and organization of personnel management. Realization of corporate projects on diagnostics, development and implementation of programs of work with personnel. Member of the European Association of Organizational Psychology and Labor Psychology – EAWOP (European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology). Co-founder of the Association of Human Resources Management Specialists Khrystyna Dolna × The Chief Operation Officer of LvBS . Received a specialist diploma in Tourism Management. Graduated from postgraduate studies at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin majoring in Human Resources Management. Has worked in the Training and Development department in IT company for 5 years. She is a member of a non-government organization since 2014, and coordinating the all-Ukrainian charity action “St. Nicholas won’t forget about you”. Participated in the international youth educational projects and programs, such as EU program “Youth in Action” and ERASMUS + in Poland, Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg. kdolna@lvbs.com.ua Sophia Opatska × Founding Dean and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lviv Business School at the UCU, Vice Rector for implementation of UCU strategy at the Ukrainian Catholic University. Her areas of expertise are Organizational Behavior and Learning Organizations, Organization Development, Entrepreneurship. Background: Sophia Opatska received her education from Ivan Franko University in Lviv, a degree in International Economic Relations, and defended her thesis work in Management and Human Capital Development, a member of the Board of Directors of European Federation of Catholic Universities (FUCE). She studied at Executive Education programs the University of Michigan Business School (USA), IEDC- Bled School of Management (Slovenia), China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and had on-the- job training at InnoSpace Company (Denmark) and at the Warsaw School of Economics (Poland). In 2017, she was on a semester fellowship at Nanovic Institute of European Studies, University of Notre Dame (USA). Sophia Opatska is a founder and supervisor of the Global Shapers project in Lviv and an Advisory Board member at the Emaus Center. Work Experience: From 2001 to 2004 she held the position of the MBA Program Director at the Lviv Institute of Management. From 2004 to 2007 Ms. Opatska worked as MBA Director at Kyiv Mohyla Business School (kmbs). In 2007 she worked on building the personnel development and training system for Concern Galnaftogaz OJSC. She is Founding Dean of Lviv Business School at the Ukrainian Catholic University, which she had been leading for 10 years. From 2016 Sophia is Vice Rector Academic Affairs at the Ukrainian Catholic University and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of LvBS. Career history: Her areas of expertise are Organizational Behavior and Learning Organizations, Organization Development, Entrepreneurship. Sophia is a contributor to a number of cases on above topics in the context of Central and Eastern Europe and specifically Ukraine which is still overcomming its post communist past. Her focus at work is – creation of Entrepreneurial University and ecosystem around it. sopatska@lvbs.com.ua Gregory Muth × Now a private investor and Lecturer at Columbia University, Gregory J. Muth is the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of WSL PURE, the philanthropic arm of the World Surf League, Santa Monica, CA. Following a successful financial career, other accomplishments include the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of StrategicMed, New York, NY, a national disease and population management practice aimed at the chronically afflicted; President and Chief Executive Officer of International Medical Care, Ltd., New York, NY, a staff model health maintenance organization (HMO) offering western-style primary care in emerging markets. He remains active in the medical assistance field as a founder and lead member of the Board of Directors of Assist America, Inc., a Princeton, NJ–based employee benefits company. Muth draws upon 12 years of public service with the U.S. Department of Justice – Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Department of Defense. He began his financial career at Chemical Bank [today J.P. Morgan Chase], with stints at HSBC Bank Group, Banque Indosuez and First Boston Corporation. Lucas Monzani × Dr. Monzani is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior at Ivey Business School (Western University). Previously, he was a lecturer in Leadership at the Graduate School of Management of Plymouth University (United Kingdom). Also, he is an associate researcher at both the Institute for Organizational Development and Quality of Work Life of the University of Valencia (Spain) and the and Center for Leadership and Behavior in Organizations at Goethe University (Frankfurt, Germany). Dr. Monzani completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership at the Ivey Business School of Western Ontario University (Canada). He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology of Human Resources by the University of Valencia and is an Erasmus Mundus Master in Work, Organizational, and Personnel Psychology. His research interest lies within advanced concepts in organizational behavior, such as exemplary leadership, commitment to lead, and other topics bridging neuropsychology with Organizational behavior. Whenever possible, Lucas Monzani combines his research activities with his professional practice as an executive consultant. He has extensive experience in wide array of topics of corporate life, such as leadership potential assessment & development, executive coaching, advanced recruitment & selection techniques, virtual team-building. As a consultant, Dr. Monzani contributed to several leadership development projects within the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) of the United Nations. Yaryna Bouchyk × Master in Management in Foreign Economic Activity of Companies at Lviv National Polytechnic University. Studied economics at the University of Coventry (UK). Experience in project management in ‘Nordpraktik’ program (Stockholm, Sweden). After that – initiated several successful projects in Ukraine, including franchising projects. 15 years of practical experience in business, including management and development of family business, launching and management of start-ups. Representation of foreign companies interests in Ukraine. Aleksandra Alkhimovich × Olexandra is a lecturer of the UCU Center for Leadership. She has held key positions in HR and management for more than 15 years. Since 2012, joined Luxoft, building its career from a regional manager to a managing director in Ukraine with a team of 4,000 employees. She worked as an expert on the strategic development of the Investment Attraction Office under the Cabinet of Ministers. Olexandra is the academic leader of the program “Master of Human Resources Development and Organization” LvBS and mentor of social projects for the promotion of girls at STEM. In addition she is HR Certified, CIPD Assistant at the Royal Institute of Personnel Development in London, member of the Harvard Business School curriculum.
