Historic and landmark place in the life of Lviv citizens is the basement of the Astoria Hotel. Here was founded a Creative Youth Club by V. Ivasyuk ”(“ KTM ”) in 1977.
It brought together all famous cultural figures. In Astoria there were regular meetings of creative people, these walls heard many artistic conversations and saw creative experiments. Among the founders of the club were such famous names as Mykola Andrushchenko, Maria Lyudkevich, Viktor Proskuryakov, Sergei Kustov, Oleg Lesiuk, Igor and Oksana Bilozir, and many other personalities.
This place was always an alternative space in Lviv. The Ukrainian intelligentsia gathered here in Soviet times.

Astoria Hotel was built at the corner of Kazimyrivska (now Horodotska) and Furmanska streets. The street was called Furmanska because before the first electric tram was run it was a large number of hotels, where coachmen were mostly guests.
Around the time of Astoria`s construction on the Kazimyrivska street existed such hotels: Under the Golden Bear, Alster Hotel, Grunberg Hotel, Under the Gold Crown.

In the XIX - XX centuries in Lviv there was a real construction boom, famous city buildings were built by the best architects. On Horodotska and Sonyachna streets a tram route was laid. Were built The Opera House, the Commodity Exchange and the store «Magnus». The wave of building that shook the city did not pass by Lviv's hotel industry. In 1913-14 architect Tadeusz Hartel built on 15 Kazymyrivska street (now Gorodotska St.) an imposing five-storey building - the Astoria Hotel.
