Patent Definition

A patent is a document certifying the copyright to use the invention for a certain period. Usually this period is established by current legislation and in most cases is 15-20 years. A patent may be valid only in the territory of the state where it was approved. The patent incapacity may be determined in court on a legislative basis.

This way of protecting your rights – patenting allows the patent owner to avoid competition in the market. This gives the patent owner a unique advantage over competitors – the right to sole use of the invention, and also prohibits others from using it.

A patent for an invention can be sold or sold part of the rights to use. If the patent rights for an invention were violated, then you need to contact the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine.
