ABOUT US Human Rights Foundation is a nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization made up of roughly 78 staff members around Ukraine. Its staff consists of human rights professionals including country experts, lawyers, journalists, and academics of diverse backgrounds and nationalities. Established in 2002, Human Rights Foundation is known for its accurate monitoring records, impartial reporting, effective use of media, and targeted advocacy, often in partnership with local activists. Each year, Human Rights Foundation implements dozens of initiatives focused on the most acute human rights violations in 20 regions of Ukraine, generating extensive coverage in local and national media. With the leverage this brings, Human Rights Foundation meets with state bodies, international organizations, financial institutions, and local municipalities to press for changes in policy and practice that promote peacebuilding, human rights and justice around the country. We here at the Human Rights Foundation believe it does not take much to make a difference in this world. We want to show that making a difference doesn’t require big money—it requires only big ideas. We believe one euro can save a life! We believe that the best way to approach community development is to partner with local experts, grassroots organizations. All our programs seek to create high-impact, low-cost solutions to the urgent problems—in particular, conflict related ones. PROGRAMS: Internally Displaced Persons protection HRF aims to enhance socio-economic rights protection and plausible integration of internally displaced people in hosting communities and local labor markets of Kirovograd, Zaporozhee, Kharkiv, including liberated territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Mine Risk Education The program purpose is to reduce the number of injuries and deaths resulting from explosions of landmines and unexploded ordnances in post-conflict areas through the provision of comprehensive mine risk education in local communities and the promotion of safe behavior among children, youth and families from landmine-affected areas of Ukraine. Eco rights and deforestation HRF is looking for possibility to develop a web-resource- Eco-MONITORING.org.ua which will be focused on eco system verification with analytical comments and public control body on policy papers implementation at local level. In other words, we would like to create a “watch-dog” tool to keep an eye open on pervasive eco-rights violations. Women rights advocacy Women are usually the victims and survivors of violence and trafficking. The HRF promotes economic opportunities for women. HRF’s innovative approach will be adopted to ensure engagement of IDP women into hosting community life. HRF undertakes permanent advocacy campaigning towards pushing forward socio-economic reforms, including mass media campaigning, awareness raising trainings, street actions, etc. Micro enterprising and entrepreneurship education Human Rights Foundation is promoting micro enterprise through micro-credit intervention. Human rights monitoring In August 2015 HRF implemented All-Ukraine mission for IDPs with disabilities monitoring. The monitoring report can be downloaded here.
