Film entry

The call for entries for the International, National and European Documentary Competitions of the 9th Odesa International Film Festival is open from 14 Decmber 2017 till 10 April 2018.
 
Films eligible for submission to the International Competition are FEATURE-LENGTH FILMS of high artistic quality with mass appeal potential ("art-mainstream") completed after 1st January 2017. The film participating in International Competition should not be released or premiered in Ukraine preceding the Festival.
 
Please note that we do not consider short films, exept Ukrainian ones.
 
Films of any length and genre produced in Ukraine or co-produced with Ukraine completed after 1st January 2017 may be submitted for the National Competition.
 
Films eligible for submission to theEuropean Documentary Competition are FEATURE-LENGTH documentaries completed after 1st January 2017 produced or co-produced with companies that made the largest investments from such countries as Ukraine, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Israel, Austria, Finland, Norway, Ireland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Iceland, Greece, Russia, Croatia, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Republic of Belarus, Portugal, Turkey, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Georgia, Armenia, Lithuania, Cyprus, Albania, Kosovo.
 
The format of competition program films are: film (35 mm) or digital (DCP). 
Preview DVDs for selection to the competition programs are to be sent to the Organizing Committee address before April 10, 2018. If you have provided the link to the online preview copy of the film, you don't have to send a DVD. All participants are asked to fully comply with the terms and shipping instructions as indicated in the official invitation about the participation to the Odesa International Film Festival.
 
The preview copy of the the film submitted for selection should be accompanied by:
  • a completed entry form
  • synopsis of the film
The shipping costs of the film print to the Festival are to be covered by the participant. In case of the print damage during the festival, the expenses for its restoration or production of a new print are to be covered completely by the Festival. The Organizing Committee of the Festival totally covers all the expenses related to the shipping of the film print back. Complaints regarding the condition of the returned prints are accepted within one month upon its receipt.

The participants of the International Competition compete for the following awards:
  • Grand-Prix (the Golden Duke statuette and 10,000 Euro* for the director) is determined by audience choice
  • Duke statuette and 5,000 Euro* for Best Film
  • Duke statuette and 3,000 Euro* for Best Director
  • Duke statuette and 2,000 Euro* for Best Acting
  • Special Jury Mention (not more than 2)
 
The participants of the National Competition compete for the following awards:
  • the Golden Duke statuette for the Best Ukrainian feature length film and 100,000 hryvnias* 
  • the OIFF Duke statuette for the Best Ukrainian short film and 50,000 hryvnias* 
  • the OIFF statuette and 50,000 hryvnias* for Best Acting
  • the OIFF Duke statuette and 60,000 hryvnias* for Best Director's Work
  • Special Jury's Mention (not more than one)
  • International Press Federation (FIPRESCI) Prize for the Best Ukrainian Full-Lenght Film
  • International Press Federation (FIPRESCI) Prize for the Best Ukrainian Short Film

The participants of the European Documentary Competition compete for the following awards:

  • Prize and 2,000 EUR* for Best European Documentary
  • Special Jury's Mention (not more than one)

*Money prize is paid according to the regulations of the Odesa IFF.
