Daria Marchenko and Daniel D Green The first picture in the series «Five Elements of War or Evolution of Dictate» The painting - «The Face of War» was created by in response to the events of 2014 in Ukraine, when Russia showed aggression and attacked the eastern part of the country, thus creating the largest military conflict in Europe since the Second World War endangering world security. This anti-war painting is created from cartridge cases taken at the different parts of front. Unique of its kind and the only in the world mosaic - installation, which depicts the face of a cynical political tyrant Vladimir Putin is the first in the history work of art made in such a technique and style and has a philosophical conceptual meaning: « It does not matter how the war would be enlighten, and how it would look - it consists of the lives of innocent people. » This work has an unusual property to change the colour and facial expressions depending on the change of the lighting. Portrait has a set of characters where is possible to see the fate, fear, pride, cruelty and hatred, sorrow and confusion... FACE OF MONEY The painting "Face of Money" (240cm x 170cm) is a dynamic portrait of the current President of the USA. The curated lighting accompanying this piece, gently shifts the depiction of Trump's persona from proud to childish to maniacal to even comical. Although his face glistens in opulent gold hues, the artists purposefully used small change to accentuate how one can be rich and cheap at the same time... New York Art Installation Has Something to Say About Putin Ukrainian artists Daria Marchenko and Daniel Green's exhibit "Five Elements of War" is making waves. Exhibition "Five Elements of War" - Ukrainian Institute of America in New York (UIA) CNN: " A giant 7-foot tall portrait of Putin made from 5,000 bullets shells used in the Ukraine war is the signature piece of an exhibition called the "Five Elements of War" making its New York debut at the Ukraine Institute of America". BROADWAY WORLD: "A seven-foot-high portrait of Vladimir Putin composed of thousands of spent bullet casings from the Eastern Ukraine war front is among the highlights of a large-scale multimedia exhibit at the Ukrainian Institute of America exploring the impact of Russia's three-year-old military and propaganda war in Ukraine. From January 25th through February 4th, Five Elements of War probes the causes, turmoil, and consequences of the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II, which has already claimed more than 10,000 lives. The exhibit is the brainchild of acclaimed Ukrainian artist-activists Daria Marchenko and Daniel D. Green ... VOA - "Face of War" in US Congress A young Ukrainian artist has created a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin with bullet casings. The exhibit, called the "Face of War," opened last week in Washington, D.C. The artist is 33-year-old Daria Marchenko. She used 5,000 empty shell casings that came from the frontline of war in eastern Ukraine. Ms. Marchenko's exhibit consists of only picture – the face of Mr. Putin. She said she got the idea when her boyfriend brought her a handful of shells. Those bullet shells came from the EuroMaidan protests in Kyiv. The artist said her work is a sign of respect to her country's soldiers. "The energy of this project is very dark. I mean, you cannot be cheerful while doing projects like that. But I was not able to stop it, either. This is my sign of respect for all of those Ukrainian soldiers, thanks to whom I still live in the capital of my country, Kyiv, without the war." Exhibit organizers used razor wire to surround the portrait. Ms. Marchenko also uses light to bring life to her portrait. As the lighting changes, Mr. Putin's facial expression seems to change, too. His look may go from excited to afraid to even evil. Ms. Marchenko first presented her project to the public this summer. Since then, she has received letters from people in Algeria, the Netherlands, Syria, and Russia. The artist said she hopes the Russian president finds out about the exhibit, and perhaps changes his own behavior. "I think there is no dictator in the world who will tell you honestly what kind of thoughts he has when he is alone in the cold night. But I believe they can feel what kind of future is waiting for them." Face of War - Ukrainian artist uses bullet cases to portray Putin - Marchenko Daria and Daniel Green 33-year old Ukrainian artist Daria Marchenko has created a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin from 5,000 empty bullet cases, collected in the separatist east of Ukraine, where the conflict between pro-Russian rebels and government forces has been raging for almost sixteen months.
