About the Project

This project aims to address the problems of corruption in local governments and compliance with best practices in transparency and accountability. The ongoing decentralization reform in Ukraine results in more power and financial resources being delegated to the municipalities, thus strengthening local governance.

This project aims to increase the motivation and drive of Ukrainian cities to become more transparent, accountable and participatory.

The Uniqueness of the Project

  • Thorough and complex research of the transparency and accountability field (100 cities and more than 90 indicators);
  • Combination of analytical and practical aspects (holding 15 trainings and providing 15 local anti-corruption organizations with sub-grants);
  • Development of local democracy and dissemination of best transparency and accountability practices in Ukraine;
  • Implementation of Goal 16 of the Sustainable Development 2016-2020 Goals : “The promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, the provision of access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable institutions at all levels.”
  • Promotion of Ukraine as a successful case for other countries.
