MDEM is part of Damen Shipyards Group. Our core business is basic and detailed engineering for shipbuilding projects with focus on semi- and custom-built vessels and on-site support. Step by step we expand our service portfolio, which includes R&D, maintenance engineering standards and part catalogue; we support Group IT&IM and participate in on-line and off-line market communications. We aim to meet our client’s expectations on quality, time and costs. Our vision is to become a highly competitive ship design and support agent to provide a wide range of customised engineering and digital services. History of MDEM 1 Excellence in Engineering MDEM (Marine Design Engineering Mykolayiv) started in 2006, when a small group of engineers was contracted by Spanish company ATN for a Seismic Research Vessel. From the early beginning new team participates in trainings and closely cooperates with clients for quality improvement, investigates best world practices and standards including used and applied by Damen Group. The everyday progress became a new criteria of MDEM development in order to gain the excellence in engineering. History of MDEM 2 MDEM and Damen - from supplier to integral part of Damen In 2006 MDEM signed its first contract with Damen Shipyards Group for a Fast Ferry 8521, proving its technical competency and actively showing a willingness to adopt new design approaches. We participated in other projects for High Speed Crafts, Tugs & Workboats, Public Transport, Offshore and other departments. We also supported Damen yards with their specific requirements. As the quality of both engineering and cooperation continued to improve, MDEM joined Damen in 2010. “I think the idea was good and still is good because you have high skilled people coming from the Universities in Ukraine, hard-working people and much lower cost than we have to pay in Western Europe for the same capacities and the same creativity.” – Kommer Damen. History of MDEM 3 MDEM today Nowadays, our company consists of more than 150 employees. Engineering services still form core business of our work and expertise. In addition, our portfolio has expanded with Research & Development, Marketing & Communications and IT services. Now we are big and friendly team, which has completed more than 330 engineering projects and developed 5 innovative services for B2B. We strive to improve our competences and be in the lead in every service we provide.
