Work was presented at one of the best venues – the capital’s Capitol Hill Club. Tremendous interest in the painting was demonstrated by congressmen, the representatives of the political elite of the United States and other countries: Nancy Pelosi (Democratic Leader by House Democrats); Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Florida State Senator); Ted W. Lieu (California State Senator); Ed Royce (Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee); Paul Behrends (Staff Director Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia and Emerging Threats); Сongressman Trent Franks (Arizona's district); David Gowan (Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives); Temur Iakobashvili (Ambassador of Georgia to the United States). This anti-war painting is created from cartridge cases taken at the different parts of front. Unique of its kind and the only in the world mosaic - installation, which depicts the face of a cynical political tyrant Vladimir Putin is the first in the history work of art made in such a technique and style and has a philosophical conceptual meaning: « It does not matter how the war would be enlighten, and how it would look - it consists of the lives of innocent people. » This work has an unusual property to change the colour and facial expressions depending on the change of the lighting. Portrait has a set of characters where is possible to see the fate, fear, pride, cruelty and hatred, sorrow and confusion... VOA - "Face of War" in US Congress A young Ukrainian artist has created a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin with bullet casings. The exhibit, called the "Face of War," opened last week in Washington, D.C. The artist is 33-year-old Daria Marchenko. She used 5,000 empty shell casings that came from the frontline of war in eastern Ukraine. Ms. Marchenko's exhibit consists of only picture – the face of Mr. Putin. She said she got the idea when her boyfriend brought her a handful of shells. Those bullet shells came from the EuroMaidan protests in Kyiv. The artist said her work is a sign of respect to her country's soldiers. "The energy of this project is very dark. I mean, you cannot be cheerful while doing projects like that. But I was not able to stop it, either. This is my sign of respect for all of those Ukrainian soldiers, thanks to whom I still live in the capital of my country, Kyiv, without the war." Exhibit organizers used razor wire to surround the portrait. Ms. Marchenko also uses light to bring life to her portrait. As the lighting changes, Mr. Putin's facial expression seems to change, too. His look may go from excited to afraid to even evil. Ms. Marchenko first presented her project to the public this summer. Since then, she has received letters from people in Algeria, the Netherlands, Syria, and Russia. The artist said she hopes the Russian president finds out about the exhibit, and perhaps changes his own behavior. "I think there is no dictator in the world who will tell you honestly what kind of thoughts he has when he is alone in the cold night. But I believe they can feel what kind of future is waiting for them." Parliamo del lavoro dell'artista ucraina Dariya Marchenko, che e ha realizzato un ritratto del presidente russo Vladimir Putin utilizzando ben 5mila cartucce raccolte nelle zone di conflitto dell'Ucraina orientale. “Per me il volto della guerra è quello di Putin, perché non fa altro che dare ordini e diffondere menzogne”, spiega Dariya. “Ma con l'aiuto di questa immagine voglio far capire che le persone vedono qual è la realtà delle cose. E soprattutto voglio ricordare a lui e a tutta la società che la guerra significa perdita di vite umane”. A rappresentare quelle vite scomparse sono appunto i bossoli, che a seconda dell'illuminazione conferiscono al volto espressioni diverse.
