This research study seeks to ascertain whether the NCA’s responsible lending requirements have limited reckless lending by credit providers. Data are collected by a telephonic survey amongst debt counselors and in-depth interviews amongst bank employees. Descriptive statistics are used to analyze data from the descriptive survey, while data from in-depth interviews are analyzed using the thematic approach. Credit providers have divided opinions on whether the NCA limits reckless lending practices. Debt counselors claimed that credit providers are lending irresponsibly. By contrast, insights obtained from bank employees indicate compliance. However, both agree that borrowers are not borrowing responsibly. As a result, consumer education is required to educate consumers on both the benefits and risks of borrowing. It is also recommended that lenders be audited for compliance to the Credit act. Bond yields and stock returns comparison using wavelet semblance analysis Robert Verner, Gabriel Herbrik doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.21511/imfi.14(2-1).2017.12 Investment Management and Financial Innovations Volume 14, 2017 Issue #2 (cont. 1) pp. 281-289 Views: 61 Downloads: 28 TO CITE АНОТАЦІЯ Various measures of resemblance are increasingly applied in confrontation of data samples obtained by different sources. Semblance analysis aims at comparison of two sets of data based on their phase and frequency. Conventional semblance analysis following the Fourier transform has several deficiencies resulting from the transform. To overcome these obstacles, another type of semblance analysis was developed applying the wavelet transform. This paper focuses on semblance analysis of stock prices and government bond yields of two major global economies using continuous wavelet transform regarding both scale and time. Job motivation and management implications: a case of teachers in Nigeria Chux Gervase Iwu, Ikechukwu O. Ezeuduji, Ita Chimezie Iwu, Kenechukwu Ikebuaku, Robertson K. Tengeh doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.21511/ppm.15(2-1).2017.11 Problems and Perspectives in Management Volume 15, 2017 Issue #2 (cont. 1) pp. 277-287 Views: 79 Downloads: 18 TO CITE АНОТАЦІЯ This research sought to ascertain those job characteristics that influence teacher motivation, which may result in improved pass rates for learners in Ibadan South-West Local Government, Nigeria. Descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate statistical analytic methods were employed to determine the relationships between job characteristics and obstacles to teaching and learning, on the one hand; and respondents’ profile, on the other. For the purpose of the research, 456 teachers were surveyed with the aid of a structured questionnaire. Relatively young teachers were surveyed (87%), with females dominating the sample. The results suggest that while salary, career opportunities and duties and responsibilities respectively take central stage in motivating the participants, other job characteristics variables (such as supervision/leadership) do not exert the same effect. Furthermore, the results also show that the lack of resources related to learning and research, and the lack of recognition/reward are deemed as the dominant obstacles in meeting teaching and learning goals, while non-transparent culture is viewed as an insignificant obstacle. A major implication of the findings is that to achieve a sustainable improvement in student performance, a systematic improvement in teachers’ job related factors would be needed. The influence of trust, communication and commitment on ethical behavior in universities: a case of South Africa Babatunde Adedeji Popoola, Elizabeth Chinomona doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.21511/ppm.15(2-1).2017.10 Problems and Perspectives in Management Volume 15, 2017 Issue #2 (cont. 1) pp. 266-276 Views: 62 Downloads: 10 TO CITE АНОТАЦІЯ This study examines the influence of trust, communication and commitment, that have on ethical behavior in universities in the Gauteng province of South Africa. Three hypotheses are posited in this research. The empirical test of hypotheses based on a sample data set of 450 respondents from universities in the Gauteng province of South Africa was provided. IBM SPSS statistics 24.0 and IBM SPSS Amos 24.0 software were used to analyze the data. The results indicate that trust, communication and commitment positively influence ethical behavior in universities. Drawing from the study’s findings, managerial implications are discussed and limitations and future research directions are suggested. This study contributes new knowledge to the existing body of ethical behavior literature and organizational behavior theories in Africa.
