Moreover, Ukraine has to reduce imports of foreign energy. Energy independence of the state requires stimulation of market development and implementation of energy projects in the field of energy efficiency, alternative fuels and renewable energy resources. To address these challengesit is proposed to create “Energy Platform of Ukraine” as a unifying link, which could represent interests of business entities and of the state, stimulate and resolve issues in energy and social development spheres. “Energy Platform Ukraine” aimed at creating opportunities for: – Encouraging investments; – Using investments for the projects concerning energy sector; – Realization of investment projects on the basis of equity rights; – Crediting projects implemented by business entities with emissions of their own bonds. In addition, the activity of the Platform will be based on scientifically grounded practice, which will allow to develop energy sector in a balanced manner considering regional differences. The draft concept of “Energy Platform of Ukraine” was presented on February 26, 2015 in Kyiv during the International conference “Ukraine – energy independent state”. Among developers of the draft concept are experts and industry professionals, including specialists from the Ukrainian National Committee of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine). Energy Platform Ukraine EXPLANATORY_NOTE EXPLANATORY_NOTE__part 2 ____________________________________________________________________________ A document considers the main potential reserves of energy resources: coal, oil, natural gas. It is given the information about reserves of shale oil and gas in Ukraine and of the use of traditional resources with alternative to Ukraine’s energy sector methods. Much attention is paid to the potential of renewable energy in Ukraine, including bioenergy and statistics on the main types of biomass. During the preparation of presentation it was used materials of the state institutions and enterprises of Ukraine, namely the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine, the State Statistics Committee, “Naftogaz Ukraine”, the National Institute for Strategic Studies, analytical reports of domestic and foreign analytical companies, including Baker Tilly, International Energy Agency, US Energy Information Administration and others.
