UKROP has evolved as a mass-based ideological party, its platform uniting Ukrainian patriotism and social democracy of the European type. The party was conceived in the middle of 2014 and officially registered as the Patriotic Alliance on 25 September 2014. On 15 June 2015 the party changed it's name to the Ukrainian Association of Patriots - UKROP. The core of the party comprises civil society activists, participants of Euromaidan and Ukraine's Revolution of Dignity, volunteers and members of Ukrainian territorial defense battalions. The party nominated more than ten thousand candidates for the local elections that took place on 25 October 2015. Out of these 35% are women, people under 34 years account for 30%, people from 35 to 44 for 30.4%, from 45 to 54 – 24.9%, over 55 – 14.8%. Candidates with higher education accounted for 72.4%, those with post-secondary vocational – 16%, while 10.7% have general secondary education. UKROP has around 5,500 members, as of November 2015. At the local elections on October 25, UKROP has gained 949,689 votes (regional councils and Kyiv City Council). Throughout the country, the party has scored about 7,3% of the vote. 1766 party candidates were elected to local councils of all levels – from the regional to the city district councils (excluding the deputies of village councils). 140 candidates of UKROP took seats in 18 regional councils, 659 candidates – in 197 municipal councils, 773 candidates in 233 district councils (the data of vote count conducted by the party). Six candidates of UKROP were elected mayors in the first round (Baranovka, Krolevets, Hlyniany, Yampil, Svitlovodsk, Zhovty Vody). Five candidates head to runoff of mayoral elections in Dnipropetrovsk, Pavlograd, Dniprodzerzhynsk, Nikopol, Lutsk.
