The project is implemented by Association “Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine” (AEMU) with the support of German International Cooperation GIZ and the Odessa Municipal Energy Agency (OMEA). The event was held within the “Week of Germany in Ukraine.” In the final “School of energy” was attended by 100 students from 25 schools from all over Ukraine. The workshops attended by the Head of State Energy Efficiency Sergei Savchuk, who said that the ESCO mechanism is one of the country’s new and effective tools to attract investments in energy efficiency of public sector. Its main advantage – the opportunity to insulate social facilities – hospitals, schools, kindergartens, etc. – no involving the additional budget. Insulation of buildings budgetary institutions by ESCO mechanism is the solution, which benefit both investor and manager of public funds. Supported by the Project “Establishment of Energy Agencies in Ukraine” (GIZ) old mercury lamps were replaced with modern light-emitting-diode (LED) lamps in the school gyms of these two schools. And now, students and teachers can smoothly carry out extracurricular activities and enjoy better illumination of the gym while consuming less energy.
