In response to corruption accusations they publicly question moral qualities of journalists who reveal the endangering information or distract public attention with secondary information, such as journalists’ stylistic and editorial choices. Often the situation gets to the point of such ambiguity that it is hardly possible to find the truth. And at times it seems like the irrefutable facts will inevitably get buried in the multitude of little lies, produced and replicated by the internet crowd of trolls or so-called opinion leaders. The challenges of the post-truth world for journalism is the topic of this year’s MezhyhiryaFest. We will gather to share knowledge and experiences , discuss issues related to freedom of speech, investigative journalism, whistleblowing, digital security and activism. Activists, hackers, media theorists and journalists from around the world will share with you their experiences in form of lectures, open discussions and workshops. Together we will explore intersections between journalism and technology, we will learn how to defend ourselves in cyberspace, and how to use technology to empower us in our everyday struggle for better society. She worked as BBC correspondent in the Caucasus, Central Asia, Middle East, Washington DC and India. Antelava conducted numerous under-cover investigations on human rights violations in Central Asia, Iraq and the United States. Natalia has also written for the Guardian, Forbes magazine, Washington Post and the New Yorker among others. She also covered recent events in Ukraine’s East for BBC. Scott Higham Scott Higham is a Pulitzer Prize-winning member of The Washington Post's investigations unit. He has conducted numerous investigations, including an examination of abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison, and waste and fraud in Homeland Security contracting. The Abu Ghraib investigation was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting, and the series on contracting won the Investigative Reporters and Editors Award for large newspapers. Paul Radu Paul Radu is OCCRP Executive director. He is a Knight International Fellow who trained journalists in the Balkans and Eastern Europe to use databases to assist in their investigative reporting. Radu is also a project coordinator and co-founder of the Romanian Center for Investigative Journalism. He has worked for BBC News Night, ABC News 20/20, NBC, CBS, and other news organizations. Emma Lacey-Bordeaux Emma Lacey-Bordeaux is a writer and a journalist working for CNN based in Atlanta, Georgia. She holds the title of Row Editor and works with correspondents around the world to ensure rock solid reporting across all of the CNN’s platforms and brands. She’s been with the company for seven years starting out as a researcher working her way up. She's reported and produced award winning multimedia stories concerning America's justice system and covered presidential elections in 2017. Peter Pomerantsev Peter Pomerantsev a Soviet-born British journalist, author and TV producer. In 1978 Pomerantsev moved with his parents to West Germany, and thereafter to London and Munich. Starting in 2011 Pomerantsev has been writing about Russia to London Review of Books, Atlantic, Newsweek/Daily Beast, Foreign Policy, Le Monde Diplomatique, Financial Times, New Yorker. He coined the term "post-modern dictatorship" to describe Vladimir Putin's regime. In 2014 Perseus Books published Pomerantsev's Nothing Is True and Everything Is Possible: The Surreal Heart of the New Russia under its PublicAffairs imprint. Dmytro Gnap Dmytro Gnap is a Ukrainian journalist and anchor. He worked as a reporter, editor and news anchor at various Ukrainian TV channels including STB, First National, TVi. For the last several years he’s been leading Slidstvo.info, a team of investigative journalists investigating crime and corruption in modern Ukraine. In 2014, he was among journalists who collaborated to preserve documents found at the Mezhyhirya Residence after President Viktor Yanukovych fled Ukraine. In 2015 Gnap won the National Award for Investigative Journalism at Mezhyhirya Festival. Miranda Patrucic Miranda Patrucic is an investigative reporter and regional editor for OCCRP focusing on Central Asia, the Balkans and the Caucasus. She is the recipient of the Knight International Journalism Award, the Global Shining Light Award, the IRE Tom Renner Award, the Daniel Pearl Award and the European Press Prize. Nick Shchetko Nick Shchetko is senior social media producer at Current Time television channel. He creates and oversees production of compelling videos, interactives infographics and stories. As a journalist and an editor Shchetko worked with The Wall Street Journal (from Kyiv and San Francisco), Minyanville (New York) and TUT.BY, the largest Belarusian online media outlet. His primary areas of interest are social media video, technology, business journalism, visualizations and data journalism. Denys Bigus Denys Bigus is a Ukrainian investigative journalist, works for “Nashi Groshi” anticorruption project at Bihus.info. Bigus previously worked for Znak Oklyku (Exclamation Mark), investigative project at TVi channel. During EuroMaidan Revolution he participated at Kantselyarska Sotnya (Clerical Hundred), a union of protesters that aimed to collect the documents abandoned after former President Viktor Yanukovych and his allies fled the country. Bigus was also among journalists who found the documents left in Yanukovych’s main estate Mezhyhirya on Feb. 22 and later co-founded YanukovychLeaks investigative project. Natalia Sedletska Natalia Sedletska is a ukrainian journalist and TV anchor, known for investigating corruption of Ukrainian politicians and officials. She used to work for Znak Oklyku (Exclamation Mark), investigative project at TVi channel, author and host of the “Tender News” program. In 2014 Sedletska joined Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe and became the anchor and the leader of the Skhemy: Corruption in Details investigative program. Mykhailo Tkach Mykhailo Tkach works as an investigative journalist at Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe and is one of the lead journalists of Skhemy: Corruption in Details investigative team. The winner of the investigative journalism contest among young journalists in 2012. He is best known for the investigations mapping out the connections of Ukrainian officials, politicians and oligarchs. Tkach used to work for “Hroshi”, investigative project at 1+1 channel. Joachim Dyfvermark Joachim Dyfvermark is an investigative reporter/producer working for the current affairs program «Uppdrag granskning» at Sveriges Television, Swedish public service television company. Anastasia Stanko Anastasia Stanko is a Ukrainian journalist and TV host. Stanko Works at Hromadske. After graduating the Lviv University, Stanko worked as journalist for the First National and TVi channels. She also an active member of the Stop Censorship movement. Sevgil Musayeva-Borovyk Sevgil Musayeva-Borovyk is a Ukrainian journalist from Crimea, Ukraine, chief-editor of Ukraine’s most popular online portal Ukrainska Pravda. She worked as a correspondent for Forbes Ukraine until it was bought out by Serhiy Kurchenko, Yanukovych’s ally. In February 2014, she launched Hubs, an independent business news web portal becoming its chief-editor. After annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, she also co-founded Krym_SOS internet project. Liubov Bagatska Liubov Bagatska is SMM/web-editor of investigative journalism program Skhemy: Corruption in details at Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe. For many years Liubov has been culture-related ssues. She joined Radio Liberty team in 2014. Vlad Lavrov Vlad Laavrov is a staff reporter for Kyiv Post and regional editor for OCCRP in Central Asia. He reported from the frontline of the Kyiv barricades, and was a leader in the famous YanukovychLeaks campaign to make thousands of the former Ukraine President’s rescued documents available online. He worked on OCCRP's Panama Papers, Offshore Crime Inc. and Proxy Platform projects; He is also a winner and nominee of numerous international journalism awards. Anna Babinets Co-founder and journalist of "Slidstvo.Info", OCCRP editor in Ukraine. She has been working as journalist-investigator since 2009: first for the agency "Svidomo", then for the TV-program "Znak Oklyku" (TVi). In 2012 Anna with Dmytro Gnap founded their own project "Slidstvo.Info." Anna is a member of the YanukovychLeaks project. She worked with documents at the international initiative Panama Papers. Editor of the international network OCCRP in Ukraine. Roman Anin Roman Anin is an investigative reporter for the Moscow-based weekly newspaper Novaya Gazeta. Anin’s investigations have focused on government and military corruption. He has written about corruption among politicians and businessmen involved in construction contracts for the Sochi Olympic Games. Anin also worked with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists on tobacco lobbying and corporate corruption stories. Serhii Guz Sergey Guz is a chief editor of "Gorod 5692" website in Kam'yanske, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. He is former head of the Independent Media Union of Ukraine. He used to work as chief editor of "Nash Reporter" magazine. Ondřej Kundra Ondřej Kundra, a Czech investigative journalist. He currently works as an observer in the Prague weekly "Respect". In 2010 he became a prize winner a of Novinářská křepelka and nominee of the Chech literary prize Magnesia Litera. On February 22nd 2014, after the end of the Yanukovych government and his abrupt leave, the Mezhyhirya compound, his residence in the Ky iev countryside, was opened to protesters, activists and journalists.
