FAQ

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO BECOME A MEMBER OF EYP-UKRAINE?

In order to become a member of EYP-Ukraine a person is to fill in an application form, pass the interview (or participate in one of the EYP sessions). The Board of EYP-Ukraine is to consider the application form (and the results of the interview) and approve/disapprove the membership.

IS IT ENOUGH TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FORM, WHICH I FOUND ON THE WEB-SITE?

No, it is not. You either need to be interviewed by one of the Board Members of EYP-Ukraine during the General Assembly or apply for an EYP session in Ukraine.

WHAT IF I DON’T PASS THE INTERVIEW SUCCESSFULLY?

The aim of an interview is to get to know a person, to clarify the real motivation for joining our Organisation. Usually the interview is just a friendly talk and we accept everyone who complies with the objectives and rules stated in the Charter of EYP-Ukraine.

WHAT LANGUAGES SHOULD I KNOW TO JOIN EYP?

EYP-Ukraine has two official languages – Ukrainian and English. However, the working languages of EYP on the international level are English and French. Knowing all of them will give you an advantage, however French is not obligatory.

ARE EYP OR EYP-UKRAINE RELIGIOUS OR POLITICAL ORGANISATIONS?

The EYP stands for European Youth Parliament, a pan-European educational platform for debate, intercultural encounters, educational work and the exchange of ideas among young people in Europe. EYP-Ukraine stands for International Youth Non-Governmental Organisation ‘European Youth Parliament – Ukraine’, a National Committee of EYP in Ukraine.
Both have nothing to do with religious movements or political parties.

WHEN AND HOW CAN I GO TO THE SESSION?

If you fill in an application form, come to the General Assembly of EYP-Ukraine and pass the interview – you will be subscribed to the ‘eyp-members’ mailing group. It will give you an opportunity to get to know about all EYP events held in Ukraine and abroad. If you filled in an application form and want to apply to the EYP event which is taking place prior to the General Assembly – a separate interview with the Board of EYP-Ukraine can be arranged upon request. In the case you want to apply for Ukrainian session (National Selection, Regional Session or Forum) you can submit application directly to the organising team. If you choose a regional session or other regional EYP event abroad, fill in the application form and submit it to the Board Member on International Activities of EYP-Ukraine (at ia@eyp- ua.org) who is responsible for Ukrainian delegations. The delegations to the International Sessions are selected during the National Selection sessions.

IS IT NECESSARY TO TAKE PART IN ALL SESSIONS/CONFERENCES?

No, it is not. Choosing the session to go to is your right.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO TAKE PART IN THE SESSION/CONFERENCE AND WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS PRICE?

Taking part in the session as a delegate, you need to cover your travel costs and participation fee. Usually the participation fee doesn’t exceed 50 euros (for regional sessions) and it covers accommodation, food, transportation costs during the session and evening program. Participation fee at the sessions held in Ukraine does not exceed 100 UAH. Important: the only exception is the International Session where participation fee here is fixed – 150 euro, since the event lasts for 10 days and its agenda usually is particularly saturated.

WHAT DO YOU USUALLY DISCUSS DURING CW?

CW stands for ‘committee work’. During the committee work the delegates work on the current issues of European politics and compose a joint resolution, which is to be debated during the General Assembly. Usually the topic of discussion contains a problem which is important to European society as a whole. While working in committees the delegates are to analyse the current situation within the problem discussed and to suggest possible ways to solve the problem.

Summer International Sessions are attended by EYP delegates.

WHAT IS AN INTERNATIONAL FORUM?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTERNATIONAL SESSION AND INTERNATIONAL FORUM?

The major differences are in duration, number of participants and the procedure of their selection.
