UMH history began in 1994 with the launch of the project "Telenedelya" - Ukraine's first edition in the segment of celebrity & TV guide. In the short term "Telenedelya" became the most popular national magazine. The project became a driving force that resulted in the development of a portfolio of own and licensed brands.

From 1995 to 1998, the company actively developed in the segment of the tabloids and sports magazines. UMH has been licensed to well-known Russian newspaper brands "Arguments and Facts" and "Komsomolskaya Pravda", launched the magazine "Football". In just six years in the structure of UMH has appeared more than ten successful media projects. The development dynamics allowed the group to become a major player in the press market. An important event in 2010 for company was the license agreement for the publication of Forbes magazine in Ukraine. The project was launched very successfully and made a strong impact on the balance of power in the market of business media. By 2011 the company owns more than 25 publications in the segments of news, business, celebrities and sports.

In 2000 the group became multimedia. The first radio station was included into brand portfolio. Two years later – another one, and in 2004 UMH radio division already had four network stations. Now the group includes eight radio stations with 31.9% in audience share and leading niche channel "Menu-TV" that was acquired in 2008.
With the rapid development of digital technology, the Internet has become an important priority in the business development of UMH. Through acquisitions and development of own projects, the company formed a portfolio of more than 15 projects covering the 47% of Ukrainian audience.

2003 was a landmark for the history of the UMH. The group went on a strategic market — Russia, where founded the publishing house "The popular press". After a year in the new territory began the rapid development of the brand "Telenedelya" that managed to enter the top 10 newspapers in Russia for a short time.

In 2006 UMH has started to develop its own retail chain in the format of convenience store. For five years the network has achieved leadership in scale - the number of points in the network exceeds 850, while the number of served customers in 2010 has exceeded 27 million.

In 2008 UMH became the first media company in Ukraine that has placed the securities in the international market – company has entered the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

In early 2011 UMH has completed two major acquisitions of radio stations and Internet projects, becoming a market leader in the press, radio and the Internet in Ukraine.
