With some famous personalities like Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Phani Sarma and Ananda Chandra Agarwala, hailing from Tezpur, it is also known as the cultural capital of Assamese culture. Surrounded by tea gardens, Tezpur is presently a commercial, administrative and educational centre. The town has many beautiful tourist spots to attract the tourist. The famous bridge Kolia Bhomora Setu is the longest bridge across the river Brahmaputra, which spans a total length of 3015 meters, is one the most attractive tourist spot in Tezpur. Other than this there are many famous tourist spots like, Agnigarh, Bamuni Hills, Bhairabi Temple, Bura-Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary, Chitralekha Udyan, Cole Park, Da Parbatia, District Museum Tezpur, Ketakeshwar Dewal, Mahabhairab Temple, Nag-Sankar Temple, Nameri National Park, Orang National Park, Ouguri Hill, Padum Pukhuri, Rudrapada Temple, Sri Mahabhairab Mandir, Trimurty Udyan, etc. Tezpur always enjoys a moderate weather with average high temperature of 29째C and average minimum is 19째C. Summer seasons (April-May) has a maximum of 40째C and winter (October to March) has a minimum 5째C. Monsoon during June to October give good rainfalls.
