Education in Jorhat

Situated on the bank of the river Brahmputra, Jorhat is one of the largest towns in Assam after Guwahati. With a population of 870,000 (1991census), it spreads over 2,851 square kilometers.
Jorhat has always succeeded in attracting a number of tourists every year because of its tourist spots like the Dhekiakhowa Bor Naamghor, Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, Lachit Borphukan's Maidam, and Majuli River Island.
With an average maximum temperature of 29°C and average minimum of 19°C, Jorhat always witnesses moderate climate. Summer seasons (April-May) has a maximum of 40°C and winter (October to March) has a minimum 5°C.
Like Tezpur, Jorhat is also very known for its culture. Bihu, which is the main cultural festival of Assam is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year.

East Institute of Science and Technology, Tea Research Association Tocklai, etc. Jorhat is considered to be the most literate district of Assam.
