Created To Make A Difference...

Chargers Community Foundation:

Founded in 1995 by San Diego Chargers owner Alex Spanos, the Chargers Community Foundation is a leader in honoring volunteers, assisting youth sports and helping critical causes important to our community. Created To Make A Difference.

Chargers Champions, the Foundation's largest program, annually provides grants for badly needed physical fitness, athletic and nutrition programs in San Diego County schools.  This past year, the program reached two significant milestones passing the $5 million dollar mark in providing assistance to area students, teachers and schools AND awarding its 125th school grant into the San Diego community.

Through the Foundation’s annual Coach of the Week Program, the Chargers provide grants to assist school athletic programs across the county.  Each week, during the high school football season, one local head football coach is selected and awarded a $1,500 grant for use by their school’s athletic department.  More than $200,000 has been awarded locally since this program began 17 years ago.

Thanks to these and other programs run by the Chargers Community Foundation, numerous schools and organizations like Make-A-Wish San Diego, Rady Children's Hospital, Bikes for Kids, the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen for the Cure receive thousands of dollars to support their critical on-going efforts.
