Mark Prahl, Associate Director for Operations

Mark Prahl is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating VOA's radio and television technical operations, and for the overall management of the financial and human resources employed in the Operations Directorate. He is also the senior advisor to the VOA Director on matters pertaining to broadcast engineering and operations.

Prior to being named Associate Director for Operations, Prahl served with the International Broadcasting Bureau’s (IBB) Office of Engineering, managing such projects as the Botswana transmission station, the consolidation of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) transmission assets into the IBB, and the Digital Broadcast Program. Prahl also managed the development of the technical assets and operations for the Middle East Broadcasting Network.

Before joining IBB, he was a national marketing manager for a construction industry trade association, a project engineer for a defense electronics company, and an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Prahl holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a master’s degree in engineering administration from the The George Washington University.
