Was Buddy Hield accidentally revealed as Celtics’ No. 3 pick? By CSN REPORT June 23, 2016 3:46 PM Not to go all Ayesha Curry on you, but does the NBA know something we don’t about the Celtics’ No. 3 pick tonight? Remember last month Dikembe Mutoumbo spilled the beans before the NBA draft lottery? Could something similar have happened today? James Stewart, the eagle-eyed producer of Felger and Mazz on 98.5 The SportsHub, and simulcast on CSN, tweeted this shot (via @overtimeoften ) from a rehearsal for TSN of Canada’s NBA draft coverage - a graphic announcing Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield as the Celtics’ No. 3 pick appearing as a backdrop on the Barclays Center stage, site of the draft tonight. TSN Canada was talking about the Rose deal during the NBA Draft rehearsal and this popped up. #Celtics pic.twitter.com/QjPBeiZWr0 — James Stewart (@IAmJamesStewart) June 23, 2016 Just a placeholder? Maybe. Hield could be the shooter the Celtics are looking for and he’s among at rumored candidates to be the No. 3 pick. If it happens, you saw it here first. Sherrod Blakely June 23, 2016 2:57 PM BOSTON – Danny Ainge is no different than any other league executive whose focus right now is on the NBA draft tonight. Well, Celtics All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas has his sights on the future as well. And the way he sees it, that future in Boston could include soon-to-be free agent Kevin Durant. Despite the odds being heavily against the perennial All-Star signing on with the Celtics this summer, that hasn’t deterred Thomas’ efforts to help Boston land the top free agent on the market. “We definitely have a shot. I know that for sure,” said Thomas, speaking on [former Celtic] Jason Terry’s SiriusXM NBA radio show Wednesday night. “And I’m just trying to reach out when I can and stay in his ear a little bit here and there. I know it’s a tough time for him because everybody’s probably trying to reach out and get him to go where they want him to go. But my relationship with him is real genuine and hopefully I can get him to come to Boston and we can bring banner 18 there.” Like many athletes who have come to play for the Celtics, Thomas wasn’t sure what it would be like playing in Boston. Needless to say, he has been pleasantly surprised at how smooth the transition has been since the Phoenix Suns dealt him to Boston at the trade deadline in 2015. “It’s an honor to even be in the Celtics organization,” Thomas said. “And I just think with the fan base and the sports town that Boston is, it’s one of a kind. I’ve never seen anything like it. I haven’t played in the LAs or the New Yorks or things like that but Boston and what I’ve heard and what I’ve seen, there’s nothing like it. And if you win in Boston you’ll be loved forever. So that’s the only thing I can tell him. I keep it real short and genuine and keep it real with him. Boston is one of the best cities that I’ve ever been a part of.” Tags: 2016 NBA Draft , Boston Celtics , CSNNE Newswire , Isaiah Thomas , Kevin Durant , NBA Rumors OFFSEASON Celtics Draft Central NBA/Celtics Rumors Draft Prospect Breakdowns Nets trading Young to Pacers could be good news for Celtics Nets trading Young to Pacers could be good news for Celtics By CSN REPORT June 23, 2016 2:32 PM The Brooklyn Nets-Indiana Pacers deal just reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo’s The Vertical could be good news, again via the Paul Pierce-Kevin Garnett trade, for the Celtics. Woj reports the Nets have sent forward Thaddeus Young to the Pacers for the tonight’s 20th pick in the NBA draft and a future second-rounder. Brooklyn has traded forward Thad Young to the Indiana Pacers for the 20th pick and a future 2nd rounder, league sources tell @TheVertical . — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 23, 2016 Young averaged 15 points and nine rebounds a game for a 21-win Brooklyn team last season and, with the Celtics again holding Brooklyn’s first-round pick in next year’s draft, getting an established NBA player off the Nets roster will likely only make them worse next season. The Celtics’ No. 3 pick tonight, of course, is also via Brooklyn, courtesy of the KG-Pierce deal, which continues to be the gift that keeps on giving to Boston.
