This initiative allows comedians from across the country to showcase for key industry players at NBC and industry-wide. Top recipient(s) receive an NBC Talent Holding Deal, meeting with NBC Casting execs and an invitation to join the Stand Up for Diversity College Tour. Success stories include: Tone Bell (Bad Judge, People are Talking), Hannibal Buress ( 30 Rock, Neighbors, SNL) , Ian Edwards (Saturday Night Live), Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder, Mr. Robinson), Eric Andre ( Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23 ), and Deon Cole (Conan, Black-ish) . 2016 SCHEDULE Austin Open Call: June 25 Semi-Finalist Showcase: June 26 San Diego Open Call: July 16-17 Semi-Finalist Showcase: July 18 New York City Open Call: August 13-14 Semi-Finalist Showcase: August 15 Nashville Open Call: September 17 Semi-Finalist Showcase: September 18 HOW IT WORKS Regional Open Call Audition In each of our four cities, we will hold an open call audition. Only the first 100 comics who arrive will be seen. Comics will have one minute to perform at the initial audition. A handful will be invited back later that day to callbacks to perform a longer 2-3 minute set. From these, the top comics are selected to perform in the showcase the next evening. Semi-Finalist Live Showcase The regional showcase takes place the day following auditions, in the evening. The chosen few are asked to perform 5-7 minutes of material before a live audience. This is not a show that will air on NBC, but rather an opportunity to be showcased for agents, casting directors, and television executives in consideration for future casting and development opportunities. Los Angeles Showcase 8-10 StandUp NBC Finalists will be flown to Los Angeles to perform in front of a live audience of agents, casting directors, and television executives. Winner(s) will receive a one-year Talent Holding Deal with NBC, meetings with NBC Casting execs, and an invitation to join the Stand Up for Diversity College Tour. Questions?
