BIRTH PLACE
Rochester, NY
If you didn’t already know him, American swimmer Ryan Lochte became a household name leading up to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London because he was picked as the most likely medal threat to teammate Michael Phelps. He ended up walking away from London with five medals, bringing his cumulative tally to eleven total and five gold. That's made him the second most decorated man in Olympic swimming history, and with Phelps now retired, who knows what Locthe will be able to do in Rio. Never one to shy away from attention, Lochte has recently become the star of his own E! reality TV show, What Would Ryan Lochte Do? If you ever wanted to know what one of the most talented athletes around does on a daily basis, here's your chance.

Ryan Lochte Biography
Lochte’s father Steven and mother Ileana are responsible for getting the young swimmer in the pool for the first time. Steven Lochte’s career as a swimming coach prompted the family to move from New York to Florida, and it wasn’t long before the young Lochte had a feel for the water. From a young age, however, Lochte didn’t take swimming seriously and would often be kicked out of his lessons. He says on his website that once he became a high school junior, he realized he had the skill to perform at the highest level and decided to start taking the sport seriously. From that point on, Lochte was a different person in the pool and it wasn’t long before he was making a name for himself at the University of Florida.Collegiate Star
As a student-athlete at the University of Florida, Lochte was a 24-time All-American, a seven-time NCAA Champion and was twice named the NCAA Swimmer of the Year. He earned a degree in sports management in 2007. While dominating the NCAA swimming circuit during the completion of his degree, he also excelled on the world stage. He competed in the World Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007, amassing 14 medals, including six gold. During those events, he also set five world records.Olympics
