Diwali 2015

Diwali or Deepawali, popularly known as the festival of lights is an important festival in Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism occurring from mid-October to mid-November. Among all the festivals in India, Deepavali has a religious as well as social significance. Socially, it has an importance because long before this festival arrives, people start cleaning their houses and shops. People visit each other’s houses and convey Diwali wishes to each other. People worship the Goddess of wealth, 'Mahalakshmi' on Deepavali for inviting health, wealth and proposerity in their lives.

The ‘Trayodashi’ of ‘Krishanpaksha’ in ‘Kartik’ month which is known as Dhanteras and is related to Lord Yamaraj , falls on 9th November 2015. This day, according to Skanda Purana, is called the day of Yama Deepam.
