Description of the Theme of the Workshop

Distance learning is an important application field that intensively uses information and communication technologies in education. MRDL workshop will bring together reports dealing with the problems of resource maintenance, pedagogic and didactic methods of use of distance learning technologies.

Topics of interest

MRDL 2015 invites papers on, but not strictly limited to, the following topics:

  • Virtual laboratories: Mathematical and informational models and educational tools for virtual labs, covering in particular the distance learning courses in physics, chemistry, biology and other disciplines.
  • Design and development of electronic learning tools and resources: Design, development and use of electronic learning resources. Compatibility and integration of electronic resources in distance learning systems.
  • Computer-aided learning systems: Design, development and use of computer-aided learning systems, including cloud services and resources.
  • Pedagogical innovations in distance learning: Experience in developing and implementation of new pedagogical methods of distance learning using ICT. Open distance courses and tutors training in author's course content.
  • Monitoring of learning quality: Methods and tools for the estimation of quality of knowledge in distance learning systems, testing, rating systems, feedback.
  • Quality of electronic learning resources: Standards for electronic resources for distance learning. Modeling of and experience in using quality management systems for electronic learning resources.
  • Information of teaching and educational institutions: Modeling and experience in the use of management systems in information processing and other management processes at educational institutions. Experience in the use of distance learning technologies in a traditional educational process.

MRDL 2015 solicits research papers, discussion papers, case study reports. Formatting requirements and evaluation criteria are provided by the publication venue – Ukrainian scientific journal «Information Technologies in Education». Publication

  • The papers accepted by the MLDR 2015 Program Committee and written in English will be published in the ICTERI 2015 Proceedings Volume (at CEUR-WS). This publication qualifies as an international publication with the German ISBN. Please see the papers of MLDR 2013 published in the international Proceedings Volume of ICTERI 2013 at http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-1000.
  • The abstracts of the accepted papers written in Ukrainian or Russian will be published in the ICTERI 2015 Abstracts Volume (local Ukrainian Publisher).
  • The best MLDR 2015 papers after their presentation and discussion at the workshop may be invited to be published in their refined and extended versions:
    • Either in the Special Issue of the Journal of Information Technologies in Education, endorsed by the Higher Attestation Comission of Ukraine (April 14, 2010) as a rated professional serial publication in Pedagogical Sciences). The papers in English, Ukrainian, or Russian are the eligible candidates for this publication channel. Refined and extended versions of the papers will undergo a review by the members of the ITE Editorial Board, who will decide upon the acceptance for ITE.
    • Or in the Post-proceedings of ICTERI 2015 to be published in the Springer Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS, http://www.springer.com/series/7899). Only the papers written in English will be considered as the candidates for the post-proceedings. Refined and extended versions of the papers will undergo a review by the members of the ICTERI program committee. The ICTERI Steering Committee will decide upon the acceptance for this CCIS volume.
