Consumers got a "raw deal" in Michigan, Tesla said in a blog post late Thursday, and the legislation barring the electric car maker's direct-sales model in the state awaits Gov. Rick Snyder's signature to become law. Tesla's sales model has faced stiff opposition from dealers across the U.S., who say their role is to protect consumers against price-fixing and other ills. Michigan, home to "the Big 3" car makers General Motors Co. , Ford Motor Co. , and the Chrysler Group, is the latest battlefield for Tesla, which has faced opposition to its sales strategy in states such as Texas and New Jersey. Family Dollar has accepted smaller rival Dollar Tree's lower bid and rejected Dollar General's offer, citing antitrust concerns. "It's incumbent on the board to take all steps necessary to assess the deliverability of a superior Dollar General proposal," the hedge fund said in a letter to Family Dollar CEO Howard Levine and its board. Elliott, which owns a 4.9% stake in Family Dollar, also said it's concerned about the board's "expertise and independence." Elliott said it's nominating a slate of seven directors for election at the company's 2015 annual meeting. Family Dollar shares rose 1% in after-hours trading. Dollar General shares were up 1.3%.
