Here in New York, we helped revitalize East River Park, with New York Cares , by planting flowers, mulching, weeding, and painting. George Oliphant, host of NBC’s George to the Rescue , led the event, and Michael Jack, president and general manager of NBC 4 New York, and Telemundo 47’s president and general manager Cristina Schwarz kicked it off. By the end of the morning, we’d applied 10 cubic yards of mulch and compost, restored one lawn, revitalized five planting beds by removing invasive species and replacing them with native plants, and painted over 1,000 feet of fencing along the FDR highway.
