The distance between rich and poor is greater in America than nearly all other developed countries, making the US a leader in a trend that economists warn has dire consequences. GlobalPost sets out on a reporting journey to get at the ‘ground truth’ of inequality through the lenses of education, race, immigration, health care, government, labor and natural resources. The hope is to hold a mirror up to the US to see how it compares to countries around the world. Kevin Douglas Grant is the Senior Editor of Special Reports at GlobalPost. He holds an M.A. in Online Journalism from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School, where he was a Dean's Scholar and the founding Executive Editor of Annenberg's thriving 24/7 news organization Neon Tommy. Grant is the former Operations Director of semantic news analyzer Inform.com. Emily Judem is the Multimedia Producer for Special Reports at GlobalPost. Previously she worked as a GlobalPost-Kaiser Global Health Reporting Fellow, working on GlobalPost's Special Report, "AIDS: A Turning Point." Before joining GlobalPost, Emily worked as Online Communications Manager at Root Capital, an international development organization based in Cambridge, Mass. Rebecca Sanchez is the Deputy Editor of Special Reports at GlobalPost. She holds an M.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. A Cuban-American from Miami, she earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Anthropology, from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, for which spent a semester in Thailand conducting fieldwork for an ethnographic work on the kingdom's sex tourism industry. Marissa Miley is the Deputy Editor of Global Health for Special Reports at GlobalPost. Previously at GlobalPost, she was a global health correspondent and Kaiser Family Foundation global health reporting fellow. Her work also has appeared in Nature Medicine, New Scientist, and the Huffington Post, and she is the coauthor of the 2007 book Restless Virgins, a New York Times bestseller. She earned her M.A. in Journalism from Columbia, where she was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Fellow in science and health writing.
