He covers wine, spirits and other libations throughout California and around the world, and joined the Chronicle in 2006. Previously Bonné was lifestyle editor and wine columnist for MSNBC.com and wine columnist for Seattle magazine, and has written for such publications as Food and Wine and Budget Travel. His work in food and wine journalism has earned awards from the Association of Food Journalists and the James Beard Foundation. His interest in wine started young, watching his father run a gourmet food and catering business. Aside from the typical wine-geek fondness for Riesling, he also has a weak spot for underdogs, which is why he loves good Merlot and vermouth. He’s sick of people rhapsodizing about Pinot Noir, though he will rant at length about pairing Cabernet Franc with Sichuan cuisine. (Something about peppers.) The whole blog thing isn’t totally new to him, either. In addition to working in online journalism for a decade, he created his first blog in 2000 and in 2004 launched a food and wine blog, Amuse-Bouche. In 2005, he was a panelist at Harvard University’s “Blogging, Journalism and Credibility” conference. Please tip Got a tip?
