Union of Rectors of Ukraine proposes to intensify military personnel training at the nation’s universities
A session of the Presiding Body of the Union of University Rectors took place on 25 March 2014 with the participation of the Heads of Regional Councils of University Rectors and Rectors from the leading universities of Ukraine. An appeal was made to S.M. Kvit, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, M.V. Koval, Acting Minister of Defence of Ukraine, L.M. Hrynevych, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of Ukraine for Science and Education, and V.M. Lytvyn, Chairman of the Parlaimentary Committee of Ukraine for National Security and Defence, to propose the resumption of student education on the training programmes for reserve officers and reserve nurses at the higher educational establishments of Ukraine.
The Ministry continues to provide equality in the educational rights of all the citizens of the Nation in all the regions of Ukraine - Pavlo Polyanskiy
As is the case today, the educational rights of national minorities will be protected, and textbooks will continue to be published books in all the languages of national minorities. Pavlo Polyanskiy, Deputy Minister of Education, made this announcement to a meeting of the Advisory Committee to the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities (FCNM) of the Council of Europe.
Statement of the Presiding Body of the Union of University Rectors of Ukraine regarding the actions of the Russian government in the Crimea
"The occupation and annexation by the Russian Federation of an integral part of Ukraine – the Autonomous Republic of Crimea – is a flagrant violation of international law as now confirmed by the United Nations" stated the keynote of a statement by the Presiding Body of the Union of University Rectors of Ukraine, ratified at an enlarged meeting held in Kyiv on 25 March 2014.

Leonid Hubersky, President of the University Rectors’ Union of Ukraine, and Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv addressed Mykola Bahrov, Vice-President of the Rectors’ Union, and Rector of the Vernadsky Tavrida National University in Simferopol, requesting him to work with the management of higher education establishments at all levels of state accreditation and forms of ownership, as well as Ukrainian private higher education establishments in the Crimea to prevent violations of the law of Ukraine on higher education, and, most important, the right of graduates to receive Ukrainian degrees in higher education.
