Aircraft can be operated autonomously on short runways with artificial and unpaved pavements in wide range of altitudes of aerodromes in simple and adverse weather conditions with air temperature near the ground from -53C till +45C at day and night. Basic aircraft is certificated by transnational aircraft committee, registrated in ICAO on rates of transport airworthiness and has Type Certificate No13-74. The aircraft An-74 is all-metal cantilever monoplane with high wing and T-type single-stabilizer tail. Airframe and all aircraft systems are made in all-weather version. Aircraft power unit consist of two turbofan engines D-36 ser.3A, takeoff thrust with 6500kgf (63,7Kn), console attached over wing, and auxiliary power unit TA-12, located in accessory compartment of landing gear right fairing. Tricycle-equipped landing gear with operated nose strut. Main landing struts are retracted into fairings on fuselage, nose strut into landing gear well, located in the nose part of fuselage. Transport cabin of An-74 aircraft has dimensions, optimized by sizes of main flow carried cargoes, and allows to carry cargo in containers and packed on hard pallets, nonstandard (bales, barrels, etc.), cargoes, as well as and not self-propelled and self-propelled wheeled vehicles(cars type UAZ, RAF, “Jeep C47” ARO, etc.). Cargo door opening is close with ramp, which can be move down on the ground and used as leader, or moved forward under fuselage, that provides comfort of aircraft loading just from the truck body. Large thrust-to-weight ratio, presence of auxiliary power unit (APU) on the aircraft for the autonomous engines starting and airborne means of mechanization of cargo operations, high engine position and landing gear design, with low pressure tires provide an autonomous operation of the aircraft both from airfield with paved runway, and unpaved, gravel, ice and snow (gravel, ice runway) airfield with runway pavement strength of 8.0 kg/cm2 (800 kPa) and above. Installed on aircraft modern radio communications and flight-navigation equipment provides aircraft flights in all geographic areas, over land and water surfaces, in visual and adverse meteorological conditions, day and night in an automatic piloting on the route with accuracy RNP-5 in reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM), and landing under meteorological minimum corresponding to the one category of ICAO (600 x 800) m. An-74 aircraft is easy in operation, mastered without difficulties by flight and engineering personnel. On the base of the AN-74 aircraft can be implemented the following aircraft models: An-74T-100 and An-74T-200A - for cargo transportations and performing of special tasks; An-74TK-100 and An-74TK-200 - a convertible version for cargo and passenger transport.
