Depository — DAY
DAY [/] Share Tweet RSS Subscribe to the mailing list DAY is a project by Ola Lanko DAY is a project in which, over the course of one year, one photograph of the IJ water in Amsterdam is taken every day. This photograph contains a 24 hour non-stop image capture. DAY will result in a series of 365 photographs, that explores notions of precise documentation, natural phenomena and time. Every day a new photograph is added so you can explore day after day, look into the past, find what a particular day looked like, discover remarkable details and share them with your friends. The project has started on 1st of April, 2013 and will be completed next year. As a result of this work, an exhibition will take place, which gives a remarkable opportunity to have a look at one year in a very different way. SUPPORT While the project is made, you can explore this resource that is updated of a daily basis. In DEPOSITORY , practical information about DAY is gathered. Here you can find general information about the project, support it financially and read recent Twitter updates. In OBSERVATORY , look for explanations about the main findings, discoveries and curious observations. There you can see how many interesting details can be explored in one DAY. In EXPOSITORY , search for particular elements you would like to explore. Types of ships, weather conditions and dates are only a few examples of searching criteria available there. The plan is to exhibit 365 big format prints, to explore a period of time that will make a retrospective of one year and offers a new possibility to experience time. If you like DAY and are in the position to provide financial support, you can donate and help to make the exhibition possible. DAY is a project by OLA LANKO , an artist who lives and works in Amsterdam. Ola Lanko studied sociology at the National University in Kiev, photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague and Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Ola uses a systematic and analytical way of thinking, together with a remarkable visual language as her method to work with photography and explore it as a medium. She believes that in order to get the most from the visual information we are surrounded with, it is necessary to develop a qualitative approach to the process of looking, have a critical attitude towards images and be conscious about the place photography takes in our lives.
