[../index.html] ABSINTHE AND WEAPON OF THE PROLETARIAT ABSINTHE AND WEAPON OF THE PROLETARIAT Two outstanding events in the literary and music world happened in early October, namely the release of “Absinthe” and “Weapon of the Proletariat”. “Absinthe” is the last part of a joint project by Yuri Andrukhovych and Polish band Karbido. This is a double edition (CD+DVD) in three languages (Ukrainian, Polish and English) in an exclusive form of a book. It is an hour journey following the perversion trace of Stanislav Perfetsky that lead from Lviv to Venice. “Weapon of the Proletariat” in its turn, is the second joint album by Sergiy Zhadan and the ska band Sobaki v Kosmose from Kharkiv. From lyrical ballads and satirical compositions the collective turned to a dirtier and more dynamic sound and acutely social lyrics. Today the musicians play social disco-punk, and the heroes of new songs by S.Zh. and SVK are recognizable – representatives of Presidential Administration, members of parliament, officials from Ministry for Emergency Situations and Ministry of Defense, clerks from regional, district and town councils. In general, the project will continue performing life-asserting music for the protest electorate. The albums were presented in the frames of the project Skladanosuryadni at Arsenal Book Festival. They received a lot of positive feedback from the audience at the presentation. Have a nice listening!
