Anticorruption Civic Expert Assessment: Reality of Today, Prospects for Tomorrow
Kyiv - UNDP Ukraine hosted a round table entitled “Anticorruption Civic Expert Assessment: Reality of Today, Prospects for Tomorrow”. More than 30 CSO practitioners, experts of Kyiv-based think-tanks and specialists of the Ministry of Justice and the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers gathered on UNDP grounds to discuss first-hand experiences regarding civic anti-corruption expert assessments, and to venture for a possible roadmap to develop a unified methodology on assessing draft laws, regulations, and ordinances.

Ukraine Reports on the Human Rights Situation in the Country
12 July 2012, Kyiv – The Draft National Report on the human rights situation in Ukraine, compiled within the framework of the second cycle of preparing for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), was presented by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on 12 July 2012. The Report represents the situation with human rights and major achievements that took place in the past 4 years. The Report primarily concentrates on Ukraine’s progress in meeting the recommendations obtained by Ukraine during the first UPR cycle in 2008.

UNDP Supports the Establishment of the National Preventive Mechanism in Ukraine
It is no longer a question of “to be or not to be?” when it comes down to the establishment of a National Preventive Mechanism in Ukraine. The question is rather, “how?” and “in what way?” Ukrainian and international experts were trying to give answers to these questions during the training seminar “Establishment of the Effective National Preventive Mechanism in Ukraine”, initiated by the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and supported by the United Nations Development Programme. The training attended almost 30 staff members of the Office of the Ukrainian Ombudsperson.
