Lithuanian delegation of educationalists and young people visits Odessa

8-10 June 2012. As part of the final stages of this year’s first International Lithuanian-Ukrainian competition "The Children on our Planet are Friends”, which was for drawings, posters and photographs, a Lithuanian delegation visited Odessa and its environs. The delegation included children and young people who were competition winners from Lithuania, representatives of the Lithuanian Centre for Children and Youth, Government Officials from the Anikshchyaysky District, secondary schools, as well as staff from the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine.

Dmytro Tabachnyk, Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sport, announced this during today's briefing to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. "On 15 May, starting with testing in chemistry, Ukraine began external independent evaluation (EIE) of the educational achievements of persons who wish to enter higher education in Ukraine in 2012. All the preparatory work for EIE was carried out in full and with a high level of competence, as was witnessed by the appraisal of the public observers of the testing. This was followed on 17 May by Russian language and geography testing, on 21 and 22 May two stages in mathematics, which was attended by almost 200 thousand people, 24 May - World History, 26 May - English Language, 26 May - German, French and Spanish. Finally on 28 and 29 May, two sessions of testing took place in the Ukrainian language and literature", said the Minister.

During 7-8 June 2012, a Ukrainian delegation headed by Yevhen Sulima, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sport, participated in the 6th session of Sub-Committee № 7 on Science, Technology, Research and Development, Education, Culture, Public Health, Informatics and the Mass Media, in Brussels, Belgium.
