History

1820 - The first Swedish savings bank was founded in Gothenburg.

1915 - The first Swedish agricultural cooperative bank was founded in Stockholm.

1942 - Sparbankernas Bank ("The Savings Banks' Bank) established as the various savings banks' central bank.

1958 - Jordbrukets Bank (The Bank of Agriculture) established as the farming cooperative credit societies' central bank.

1991 - 12 regional agricultural cooperative banks merged to form Föreningsbanken.

1992 - by merger of 11 regional savings banks was formed Sparbanken Sverige.

1997 - by merger of Sparbanken Sverige and Föreningsbanken was formed FöreningsSparbanken.

2005 - Swedbank acquired 100% of Hansabank.

2006 - The AGSM decided to rename the bank, which became known as Swedbank.

2007 - Operations in Ukraine began in 2007 through the acquisition of TAS-Invest and TAS-Commerzbank, which was founded in 1991 as Innovative Bank Intellekt.

2009 – JSC "Swedbank" (public) merged with JSC "Swedbank Invest" (private).

2011 - PJSC Swedbank announced a new strategy aimed at exiting the retail segment and focusing exclusively on the corporate segment.
