EBA Lobbying efforts

Representation of membership interests

Modern governance implies close co-operation with stakeholders from all sectors of society. Therefore, civic and producer interests contribute to the perception, presentation and definition of issues in Ukrainian policy-making. Due to the ongoing dialogue with Ukrainian governmental bodies the latter have come to recognise the benefits of being open to outside input, and consultation mechanisms now form part of their activities throughout the whole legislative process.

The main objective of the EBA consultations and lobbying work is to maintain a favourable regulatory environment for the good of the EBA membership, balancing interests of market stakeholders and establishing the rule of law in the country, which serves both companies’ interests and contributes – in some way or other – to public policy-making and the governance of a wide spectrum of specific policy sectors.

In order to give the issues a genuine European dimension and context, the EBA constantly strives to stay abreast of legislative developments in the EU and keeps a watchful eye on the possible discrepancies of legal and regulatory framework of Ukraine in order to maintain the level playing field between business and non-business interests.

The vectors of the EBA lobbying activity may be seen as only the nucleus of wider issues such as public standards of behaviour, openness and transparency, remedying the democratic deficit and creation of a truly European State of Ukraine. A genuine link to the best European business-practices and access to the European decision-making bodies is the EBA Representation to Brussels.
