Welcome to the website of the United Nations Country Team in Ukraine. We work in Ukraine since 1992. Currently 13 International Organizations, Agencies, and Associated Institutions with resident missions and programmes and 800 staff members provide assistance at the central and local levels in pursuing sustained economic growth, good governance, rule of law, respect for human rights and other international standards and norms for the sake of the well-being of the people of Ukraine. Most recently, areas of cooperation and partnership between the UN system and the Government of Ukraine were outlined in the Partnership Framework for 2012-2016 . Political parties on the front lines of increasing women`s political representation 27 February 2012 – While women make up 54% of the population in Ukraine, they account for only 8% of Ukrainian parliamentarians, well below the global average of 18% and far below the 30% target to which Ukraine agreed to when it signed the UN Millennium Declaration in 2000. No women currently serve as oblast governors, only one woman was recently appointed to the government, and few were recruited as candidates in the last election. In short, Ukraine’s record on women’s inclusion in politics is indefensible. Submissions for the “Drop by Drop: The Future We Want” Contest are collected until 28 February 2012 Europeans are invited to create a newspaper ad that inspires others to preserve water now and for future generations.
