In Ukraine, three development focus areas define the structure of UNDP's assistance activities. These include democratic governance and local development; prosperity, poverty reduction and MDGs and energy and environment . In each of these thematic areas, UNDP ensures balance between policy and advocacy work, capacity building activities and pilot projects. UNDP established its presence in Ukraine in 1993. Latest News Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:12 Ukraine's local development success story featured in new publication New UNDP publication features success stories from 16 countries where UNDP support has resulted in transformative changes, including by fostering the growth of institutional and human capacities. To qualify as a transformational success, a story needed to demonstrate tangible and sustainable achievements, substantiated by data and personal testimonies. Since these depend on significant changes in institutions, attitudes and behaviours, which require long-term efforts, each story chron- icles a development intervention that generally spans a 5-to-10-year period. Wednesday, 28 December 2011 16:21 The largest in Eastern Europe gender project comes to an end, analyzes results 18 manuals, almost 2500 trainings for 50 000 professionals and officials , three education centers, ficw academic departments, one completed gender map of Ukraine. These are the results of the three-years work of Equal Opportunities and Women’s Rights in Ukraine Programme (EU-UNDP joint project). The project started in September 2008 and was aimed to support Ukrainian Government and civil society in the implementation of gender equality mechanisms. Read more...
