[] The statistics says that every year in Ukraine millions of young pine, fir-tree and fir saplings are cut down for Christmas holidays. With such a quantity of young plants it could be possible to grow hundreds hectares of forests but after holidays they just turn into so-called «dead wood». The main Christmas tree of the city usually consists of several hundreds trees. The top another hundreds thousands coniferous trees is cut off in a brutally way. By calculations of the nature guard agents with such a quantity of wood cultures it is possible to plant hundreds hectares of wood annually. Fir-trees have started to use compulsorily under the Peter 1 the 1st and also later the cult of a green tree started to develop in Soviet Union. Many modern countries of Europe and world have already refused from the usage of live fir-trees and instead of them they decorate qualitatively made artificial fir-trees. Every year in World hundreds of fir-trees are cut off for the main Christmas tree installatiton in cities and which in the result turn into the “dead wood” . Annually millions people and especially children observe the violation of the nature in the form of cuting down fir-trees for one-day needs. The scientists of the National ecological center say that this “barbarous” custom of cuting down fir-trees for the holiday makes bad influence on young generation’s ecological education. Incomprehensibly, what for the schoolchildren study the newest subjects such as “ Ethics”, “Aesthetics”, “I and World” when on the central squares of each city the barbarous damage of the nature is shown and just for the sake of momentary entertainment. It forms double standards in young generation». On the one hand, every authority only shows customs of the citizens and on the other hand – it should listen to opinion of the most progressive ones.
