The Seventh Framework Program for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration Activities is the European Union's main instrument for research funding. It directs more than 54 billion Euros over 7 years (2007-2013) for research, technological development and demonstration activities. The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) is the natural successor to the 6th Framework Program, and is the result of years of consultation with the scientific community, research and policy making institutions, and other interested parties.
