   Research areas:
   – isolation, identification and study of biological characteristics of avian viral diseases agents (influenza A, Newcastle disease and other paramixoviruses, chicken infectious bronchitis, Gamboro disease, egg drop syndrome-76, aviadenovirus infections, avian infectious encephalomyelitis, infectious anaemia, reovirus infections, duck viral hepatitis, goose viral enteritis), study of molecular-genetic characteristics of avian viruses and their phylogenetic analysis);
   – epizootological monitoring of wild, synanthropic birds concerning especially dangerous viral infections (avian influenza, Newcastle disease etc) in the places of their accumulation during the migration and nesting. Epizootological monitoring of different species of poultry, which is kept in large commercial poultry farms, and in private sector concerning viral diseases. Study of epizootic process properties at viral diseases among wild, synanthropic birds and poultry of private sector and commercial poultry;
   – creation of the collection of viruses – agents of avian infectious diseases, that can be used for production and control of biologic drugs;
   – development and introduction of means for avian viral diseases diagnostics by traditional (hemagglutination inhibition test, diffuse precipitation reaction) and modern (ELISA) methods;
   – development of homemade reference standard reagents for avian infectious diseases diagnostics;
   – development of the technology of reception of attenuated or adapted production strains for biopreparations production;
   – development and introduction of the means for specific prophylaxis of avian viral diseases, including especially dangerous (highly pathogenic avian influenza, Newcastle disease);
   – study of peculiarities of formation and duration of humoral immunity in adult birds after vaccination against viral diseases and of transovarian immunity in different species of poultry;
   – estimation of new disinfectants, study of their virucidal action on the viral diseases agents, including such dangerous as avian influenza;
   – study of the effect of antivirus preparations and development of regulations for their application in poultry farming and in veterinary medicine;
   – development of state standards of Ukraine, guidance on the diagnosis of dangerous viral diseases of poultry;
   – development of technologies of disinfection of incubatory egg surface and air in the facilities in avian presence, development of poultry keeping technologies and technologies of production of free from specific pathogens incubatory eggs, development of vaccination technologies against avian diseases in ovo.

Laboratory Epizootology poultry diseases

   Research areas:
   – epizootological monitoring of orthomyxoviruses and paramixoviruses among wild birds and poultry of Ukraine;
   – isolation of virus from biological material, final identification of hemagglutinating virus antigens, determination of subtype of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase of influenza viruse isolates, determination of paramixoviruses serotype;
   – final diagnostics concerning influenza and Newcastle disease on the basis of the results of laboratory investigations (serological, virological, molecular-genetic);
   – determination of the belonging of viruses to low pathogenic or highly pathogenic, and of the belonging of Newcastle disease viruses to velogenic, mesogenic or lentogenig viruses by the results of pathogenicity determination;
   – creation and maintaining of the collection of domestic isolates and reference strains of orthomyxoviruses and paramixoviruses and reference-reagents;
   – development and production of test-systems for diagnostics of influenza and Newcastle disease in poultry and wild birds;
   – participation in International rounds on professional testing;
   – consultations for experts of the laboratories of veterinary medicine, veterinary doctors concerning influenza and Newcastle disease diagnostics, conducting of seminars and trainings.

Laboratory of avian bacterial diseases

   Research areas:
   – study of biological characteristics of field isolates and Mycoplasma and Salmonella epizootic strains;
   – creation and maintenance of the collection of cultures of agents of the most widespread animal bacterial diseases;
   – epizootological monitoring of avian bacterial diseases;
   – development of methods of diagnostics and prophylaxis of animal mycoplasmosis and salmonellosis, development of complex systems of epizootological monitoring, diagnostics, prophylaxis and therapy of farm animals mycoplasmosis and salmonellosis;
   – epizootological monitoring concerning wide specter of animal bacterial diseases, namely colibacteriosis, staphilo- and streptococcosis, pseudomonosis, neyseriozis;
   – development of nutrient media for transportation of biological material samples for animal mycoplasmosis diagnostics;
   – development of nutrient media for isolation and cultivation of mycoplasma;
   – development of preparations from natural plant raw materials for the raise of animal total resistance.
