The main idea of this week will be awaiting the arrival of the IMF mission (mission is planning to start its work in Ukraine on 24 March). The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov considers two possibilities of interaction with the IMF: a continuation of the existing cooperation programs, or development of new multi-year program. Ukraine needs IMF support for reforms, as well as for giving a positive signal to foreign investors. We believe that the results of the IMF mission in Ukraine will be positive and this may create additional support for the stock market.

15.03.2010STIR, UTEL Political «rally» Based on last week’s results, S&P 500 gained almost 1%, European ESTX 50 increased by 0.72%, Asia grew by 2.55%, while Nikkei rose by 3.69% and Shanghai Composite lost 0.58%. The Russia MICEX week remained unchanged; the increase amounted to 0.1%. The Ukrainian index has once again failed to respond to the external market situation and soared 8.83% to 2121.59 points. Investors recently have paid little attention to world business climate, due primarily to strong political events in Ukraine: the government was formed in the hands of the Party of Regions. This will ensure the future implementation of a uniform and predictable policy, - that is what Ukraine lacked to ensure economic stability in the country. As a result of these events, Standard & Poors has raised long-term sovereign credit rating of Ukraine concerning liabilities in foreign currency from CCC + to B-, while leaving unchanged the short-term rating at C level; long-term liabilities in national currency were changed from B- to B, short-term - from C to B. All ratings have positive forecast, providing further improvement for credit ratings. These events have become a powerful impetus for long-term investors to buy, and probably for a long time will support the optimism.>>> 182 Kb
