Gorgany Race 2010

June 12-13, 2010 in the Ukrainian Carpathians adventure sports and tourist event “Gorgany Race” was held. The competition, which traditionally took place in the area of Gorgany (Ivano-Frankivsk region), was distinguished by the particular complexity and at the same time collected a record number of participants.
Competition was held in two categories: “track” (walking distance of approximately 90 km) and “bike” (cycling route – about 160 km and a small but complex walking distance). Time limit for the complete teams (from 2 to 4 people ) to cover the route was 30 hours. The teams were also required to undergo a series of tests on the technique of mountaineering: waftage, crossing the lake on a raft, climbing up the waterfall, etc., visit and check out at given points (photo of team members in branded headbands “Gorgany Race-2010″ that all competitors received before the start, against the corresponding check mark).
Due to difficult weather conditions (heat) and a difficult route (a considerable distance, the large differences in elevation, the need to repeatedly ford water obstacles, etc.), only few managed to pass all the required points and meet the limit time. In the category “track” only two teams: “Ushliopky” (Uzhgorod), and “Ex-K2″ (Lviv) succeed and divided the 1st and the 2nd places. The 3rd was the team of Lviv “Phantom”. The one to cover the cycling distance fastest was the team “Gorganski pryvydy”(Lviv). The 2nd was the team “Palm order” (Zhitomir), the 3rd place – team “Elite sport team” (Chernivtsi).

Переможці у класі “вело” команда “Ґорґанські привиди” (Львів) (Львів) – Чепіль Роман, Обаранець Назарій.

Overall, this year competition was attended by 66 teams (158 people), which represented almost all regions of Ukraine. This year the organizers also managed to bring the competition to the international level. Team “Desorient” (Poland) became the first foreign team to compete in “Gorgany Race “.
Start and end point of the race was on a meadow near Staraya Guta village (Ivano-Frankivsk region), where was also placed a tent camp of the participants and fans, Organizing Committee was working.
The organizers of the race is a team of “Gorgany com” and Lviv MMГO “K-2″.
