Dear passengers and guests of the airport! On behalf of Boryspil International Airport State Enterprise I have an honor to welcome you. The history of Boryspil Airport dates back to May 1959 when the decision was made to create Boryspil Airport of civil aviation, named Kyiv (Central), on the basis of a military aerodrome.
The airport has undergone many changes since then. Out of a small military aerodrome, Boryspil Airport has become a modern international airport with a team of several thousand highly qualified employees who mastered up-to-date aviation machinery, implemented European service technologies, modern equipment, technical means and systems. According to the strategy of Ukraine for integration into the EU, for the last few years Boryspil International Airport has been taking measures to improve quality of services and operational capacity in view of increasing importance of the airport as the main air gateway of Ukraine and the base airport for the leading Ukrainian airlines. The integrated system of management certificated according to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 standards operates at Boryspil Airport. The modern airport facilities meet all requirements of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with regard to the aviation safety and security. Currently, the airport implements Concept for development of Boryspil International Airport until 2020. There has been started construction of Terminal D, low-cost terminal, parking lots, reconstruction and extension of apron F. Today the airport is operating steadily, it is growing and developing. Borys Shahsuvarov General Director Boryspil International Airport General information Boryspil International Airport is located 29 km south-east of Kyiv and 6 km south-west of Boryspil and occupies the territory of 943.0ha. The airport has two parallel runways and approximately 200 operational, office and auxiliary buildings and constructions. 
Boryspil International Airport is the main air gateway of Ukraine and shares 62% of the total volume of air passengers of Ukraine. The airport is located at an intersection of many air routes running from Asia to Europe, America and back and is the only Ukrainian airport which serves transcontinental flights. Today, 42 foreign airlines and 8 Ukrainian airlines operate regular passenger flights on 84 routes including 72 international routes and 12 Ukrainian ones.
