Tomas Fiala

Managing Director

Tomas Fiala, managing director at Dragon Capital, has over ten years experience from Central and Eastern European securities markets. Fiala started his career at Bayerische Vereinsbank in Prague in 1994 following studies at the Prague University of Economics. In 1995, he moved to Wood & Company, a leading investment bank in the CEE region, and was shortly sent to Ukraine to establish and run Wood’s office in the country. Under Fiala’s leadership, Wood & Co. became a leading investment bank in Ukraine. Following the 1998 financial crisis, Fiala moved to Wood’s Warsaw office to launch an online brokerage. In 2000, he and his Ukrainian and Czech partners teamed up to establish Dragon Capital. Since then, Fiala has led the management, growth and development of the bank’s strategic business units, building Dragon Capital into a premier player in Ukrainian capital markets. Financial magazine Euromoney recognized Dragon Capital as the Best Equities House in Ukraine in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Dmytro Tarabakin

Managing Director, Head of Trading and Domestic Sales

Dmytro Tarabakin has more than ten years of experience in Eastern European securities markets. In 1996, after graduating from one of Ukraine’s most prestigious universities, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, with a degree in economics, and completing a one-year economics and finance program at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Dmytro joined a team of professionals who set up the PFTS stock trading system, today Ukraine’s primary securities exchange. In 1997-2000, Dmytro worked as a senior stock trader in Kyiv and Warsaw with Wood & Company, the region’s leading brokerage house, before teaming up with his Ukrainian and Czech colleagues in 2000 to set up Dragon Capital. Under his leadership, Dragon's brokerage quickly became, and remains today, the leader by trading volumes on the Ukrainian stock market. The top national business weekly, Biznes, awarded its annual Personality of the Ukrainian Stock Market accolade to Dmytro in 2004.
Peter Bobrinsky

Managing Director, International Equity Sales

Peter joined Dragon Capital in early 2007 as director of international sales, bringing with him more than two years of experience in Ukraine’s equity markets, initially as head of equity sales & trading for a prominent local broker and then as head of equity sales for a Russian-based investment house. Prior to Kyiv, Peter worked at Alfa Capital in London covering institutional investors for Russia’s equity market and also spent time as a freelance reporter in Asia, Africa, Russia and the Caribbean for four years. At Dragon, he is heavily involved in investor relations and works with a wide variety of clients. Peter graduated from Oxford University with an MBA in 2002, earned a BSc in astrophysics from the University of Paris and is FSA approved. He is a native speaker of both French and English and is fluent in Russian and Italian.
Andriy Dmytrenko, CFA

Director, Equity Sales

Andriy Dmytrenko came to Dragon Capital as an equity analyst shortly after the company was founded in 2000 and was promoted to the position of head of research in 2001 and chief strategist in 2005 before joining the company’s sales team in 2007. Prior to Dragon, Andriy worked as an economic analyst at the Government of Ukraine Center for Policy Studies, market researcher at the Kyiv office of KPMG Barents Group, and account executive at the Kyiv office of AC Nielsen. While at Dragon’s research department, Andriy has covered energy, steel and telecom sectors. Andriy holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Andriy became a CFA charterholder in 2004.
Brian Best

Managing Director, Investment Banking

Brian Best manages the investment banking department at Dragon Capital. Brian joined the company at the start of 2006 after heading the operations of Foyil Securities, another Ukrainian-based brokerage. Prior to starting his career in investment banking, Brian spent six years as a partner with one of Ukraine's largest private equity funds, where he managed investment projects in the telecommunications, media, technology and FMCG sectors. Of his most significant transactions was the acquisition and consolidation of Ukraine’s largest cable television network, Volia Cable, which boasts a 90% market share in Ukraine’s capital. Brian sat on the Board of Directors for many of the fund’s portfolio companies. Before to coming to Ukraine, Brian spent three years with the U.S.-based investment bank Lehman Brothers, where he held a few different posts. Brian earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Thunderbird, the #1 ranked Garvin School of International Management.
Kamil Goca

Director, New Business Development

Kamil Goca is one of the founding partners of Dragon Capital. He established the company's research department and investment banking division. In 2002, Kamil launched Dragon Capital's office in Prague. Prior to helping found Dragon, from 1996-2000 Kamil worked as Czech equity research manager with Wood & Co. and managed several M&A transactions in the Czech Republic. At Dragon, Kamil has completed transactions for clients in retail, real estate, pharmaceutical, transportation, food & beverage, chemical and electronics sectors. He is currently focused on corporate strategy and involved in new projects across all business units. Kamil is a graduate of the Prague University of Economics and speaks fluent English, Russian and Czech.
Andriy Bespyatov, Ph.D., CFA

Head of Research

Andrey Bespyatov joined Dragon Capital as an analyst in 2001 and was promoted to the position of head of research in 2005. During his tenure at Dragon, Andrey has analyzed companies in the oil and gas, chemical, engineering, and mining industries, combining this work with macroeconomic research. Andrey became a CFA charter holder in 2004 and received a Ph.D. in economics from the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences Institute of World Economy and International Relations in 2005. His other education includes a joint program of the Donetsk National Technological University and Dutch Hogeschool van Utrecht as well as a one-year Bachelor’s course at the Arizona State University.
Chris S. Kamtsios

Partner & Managing Director, Principal Investments

Chris Kamtsios is in charge of the private equity division at Dragon Capital. Prior to joining Dragon Capital, Chris was a senior partner and managing director at Ineko Capital Partners, a Ukrainian-based private equity group. Prior to Ineko Capital Partners, Chris worked for four years as director of investments at Commercial Capital Group, the private equity arm of Commercial Bank of Greece, and was responsible for investments in Russia and Ukraine, as well as for several investments of the Bank in Western Europe and the USA. Chris has served on the Board of Directors of several Eastern European companies active in the food processing, restaurant chains (fast food), distribution of FMCG, construction materials and transportation industries. Prior to Commercial Capital, Chris worked in the leveraged buyout division of JPMorganChase in New York as senior associate. While at JPMorganChase, Chris executed several buyout transactions on behalf of the Bank and its clients, which included many prominent U.S. management buyout groups. Chris received his BBA in Finance & Investments from Bernard Baruch College in New York in 1991 and has graduated with honors from a two-year Management Training Program, equivalent to an Accelerated MBA degree, in 1993 sponsored by JPMorganChase.
Oleg Kurinnoy

Director, Dragon Development

Oleg Kurinnoy joined Dragon Capital as head of back office in 2000, shortly after the company was founded. In 2002 Oleg assumed additional duties related to management of Dragon Capital’s investment projects and legal assistance with respect to the company’s capital market operations. At the end of 2004 he became head of Dragon’s M&A department. In this capacity Oleg participated in transactions to acquire industrial sites and convert them into modern office centers. Two such projects include the Forum Business City, a 28,000 sq. m B+ office center, and Forum Park Plaza (B+; 32,000 sq. m). In 2006 Oleg was appointed to head Dragon Development, a newly launched subsidiary of Dragon Capital charged with the development of commercial property projects. Prior to Dragon Capital Oleg was involved in a USAID project on the development of a national securities depository in Ukraine. Oleg has a Master’s degree in financial markets from Kyiv National Economic University and a degree in radio engineering Zhytomyr Higher Military School.
