OMG! I can’t believe it! Remember the photo-contest that I’ve been telling you about last year and encouraging everyone to participate? FLEX Photo Contest 2008? Well, guess what, our photo won! It didn’t win the first, neither the second place. Its not even the third. Its:

The photo which received the most votes and won the first place in the “Alumni choice” nomination - Making the first steps for the Good Tree” project in Ternopil.” The photographer is Olena Dolya.

Woohoo!

Each year, the FLEX program holds a contest in which FLEX alumni can upload their favorite photos of alumni activities. Alumni upload their pictures to the contest website and then the Youth Programs Office in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs selects the best submissions. This year five winning photos, five honorable mentions, and an “alumni choice” photo were selected. The prizes include a digital camera for the first place winner and photo albums, frames, and books for all of the second and third place winners and for the alumni choice award (sourсe).

Our picture was taken by Olena Dolya (FLEX 04) in Ternopil Orphanage for children with disabilities (Благодійна акція “Диво ялинка” для дітей-сиріт | “Good tree” project (Ternopil by FSA/FLEX alumni). There is me in the picture with the orphans.

And a quick reminder - there is another contest going on right now - Funny Stories Alumni contest. The deadline for submission has been extended so you still have time to submit your funny story! Don’t be lazy! It shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes to write a story and with us getting the Alumni choice award you now know - everything is possible!
