FSA/FLEX Sexual Health Seminar - reflections by Olya Veresyuk
This post is brought to you by Olya Veresyuk, an FSA/FLEX alumna 07 who together with Anton Podilchak did a great job in organizing a wonderful seminar for Ternopil Alumni and students on Sexual Health and Leadership.
Unfortunately, me and Olena Dolya were only present at the beginning of the seminar, so we can’t really tell much about it. Luckily Olya agreed to provide pictures and some info. So here it goes:
The seminar was about very serious problems in modern world, but it was made in such a way, that people were just having a good time while finding out something interesting and really important for there lives.
Just getting acquainted with each other before the actual seminar.
We were discussing different topics, shared our own experiences….all that helped everybody to feel comfortable in our group (most people didn’t know each other before the seminar) and till the end everybody could talk about sex without feeling uncomfortable…
The practical part
It was really good that trainers did this seminar a few times before coming here. That way they realized what the most interesting parts were, and omitted all the rest.
The trainers. Actually its the beginning of the seminar while everyone was still shy and felt really uncomfortable talking about sex and sexually transmitted diseases.
Olya is also planning on doing this seminar for students of 10-11 grades in Ternopil… The first one is planned at the end of this month. But this time there will be Ternopil trainers and hopefully Paul (from Peace Corps).

So if anyone wants to join and help - jump in, I bet Olya could use some extra help.
And the fun part, as we never go without one .

Helping Anton to put up a poster with the rules to follow during the seminar (like don’t interrupt etc).
A practice, during which we had to ask Olya and the guy in the picture some questions to define who was HIV positive (NONE OF THEM ARE IT WAS JUST A SIMULATION).
