The Hansen Summer Institute on Leadership and International Cooperation is an exciting new International program established at San Diego State University. Funded by a generous grant from the Fred J. Future World Leaders Summit 2009

The Future World Leaders Summit brings together student leaders from around the world to explore international relations, diplomacy and the changing world economy. Participants are both international students (age 16 to 19) and U.S. students interested in international relations. Each year more than 50 countries are represented.

Wolfsonian-FIU Fellowship Program

The Wolfsonian–Florida International University is a museum and research center that promotes the examination of modern visual and material culture. The focus of the Wolfsonian collection is on North American and European decorative arts, propaganda, architecture, and industrial and graphic design from the period 1885-1945.

Undergraduate Exchange Program

The Undergraduate Exchange Program (UEP) supports students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Serbia, and Ukraine* for one year of non-degree academic studies in the United States. Applicants must currently be enrolled as a second-year student at a university in their home country to be eligible.

*Applicants from Ukraine must be studying in the regions of Dnipropetrovska, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Khersonska, Luhansk, Mykolaivska, Odeska, Poltava, Sumy, or Zaporizhzhya to be eligible.

2009 Human Rights Award

The Academy is proud to announce the topic of the 2009 Human Rights Essay Award. This year's topic for the essay in English is: "60 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: its contemporary normative impact".

About the Award

This annual competition seeks to stimulate the production of scholarly works in international human rights law. The Academy on Human Rights
and Humanitarian Law grants two Awards, one for the best article in English and one for the best article in Spanish. The Jury deciding the
Award will be comprised of professionals with a recognized expertise in international human rights law. The best articles may be published in
the American University International Law Review.

The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program

The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program (Muskie) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, and administered by IREX. Muskie provides opportunities for Master’s level study in the United States to citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Participants are selected through an open, merit-based competition.

Legislative Educaiton and Practice Program (LEAP) Program

2009 International Scholarships for Women

International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not United States citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions are supported. Several fellowships are available for study outside of the U.S.

Scholarships at Ohio University

Graduate Fellowships

Ohio State graduate fellowships and associateships are the primary resource of financial assistance provided to graduate students. This type of financial support includes tuition, fees, and a stipend. Approximately 55 percent of graduate students receive Ohio State graduate fellowships or assistanships.

Howard Foundation Fellowships in History and Philosophy

The Howard Foundation awards a limited number of fellowships each year for independent projects in fields selected on a six-year rotation of topics. Approximately ten fellowships will be awarded for 2009-2010 in the fields of history and philosophy. Stipends of $25,000 are awarded to support individuals working on specific research projects. Howard Fellowships may not be used to prepare exhibits or to support institutional programs.

The 44th International Congress on Medieval Studies

The Congress is an annual gathering of over 3,000 scholars interested in Medieval Studies. It features over 600 sessions of papers, panel discussions, roundtables, workshops, and performances. There are also some 90 business meetings and receptions sponsored by learned societies, associations, and institutions. The exhibits hall boasts nearly 70 exhibitors, including publishers, used book dealers, and purveyors of medieval sundries. The Congress lasts three and a half days, extending from Thursday morning until Sunday at noon.
