18.04 Festival for Earth Day in Kharkiv

On April 18, 2008 the Second Annual Regional Festival celebrating Earth Day took place at the main square of the Kharkiv Polytechnical Institute. The goal of the festival was to attract attention and raise awareness about environmental problems among youth, as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle.

27.03 Training Focuses on Improving Professional Interpretation Skills

On January 25, 2008, Iryna Wells, UGRAD alumna and IREX coordinator for the UMPP program, conducted a training for ECA alumni at the IATP center in Ternopil entitled, “Improving Interpretation Skills.” The goal of the event was to provide alumni with new knowledge and skills for improving mnemonic and speech abilities necessary for interpretation.

The Students League of the Ukrainian Bar Association organized a Moot Court Competition at the Economics and Law Faculty of Donetsk National University from February 15-16, 2008.

1.10 Application for 2009 Muskie Fellowship Program Available. Deadline, October 31, 2008.

The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program (Muskie) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, and administered by IREX. Muskie provides opportunities for Master’s level study in the United States to citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Participants are selected through an open, merit-based competition.

26.05 Application for Alumni Small Grants Available-Deadline October 15, 2008

The 2008 ECA Alumni Small Grants Program (ASGP) is designed to support the professional development of ECA alumni and promote community development. Alumni may apply for a grant of up to $3,000 to conduct a community development or professional development project. The project time period is ten months.
